The funny thing is that he was getting plenty of stick at PSG until that shootout win against Liverpool.

I think I read that he'd have to be earning 375k a week at City to be matching his take home pay at PSG due to the tax rules being different here.
Maybe he's taken a pay cut though...who knows. However we can't be giving out those silly wages anymore to players.
Great keeper though.

There's no comparison with Donna and Lammens. Donna is proven and coming into a good team. I'm still not convinced that City are as good as either Arsenal or Liverpool, but we will see.
Lammens is coming into a team lacking a lot of confidence and no sense of clear thinking. He could very well be a good goalie, but needs to prove himself in not ideal circumstances.

The bigger regret for United is missing out on Ramsdale

If a goalkeeper can't look confident against us, he has no business on a football field.
But seriously, that was a fine save from Mbeumo.

Totally agree with the OP. He looked absolutely commanding from the very first cross he faced, and that save was world class. What a debut for him! Clean sheet, 3 points and a great save to boot.
I heard it said that Donnarauma isn't a "Pep type" keeper because he doesn't play the sweeper-keeper role well. So ***** what! He does his main job very well. I would have loved to have had him at United.

Said this yesterday, but even Pep seems to have City mixing it up and going more direct this season … so maybe he’s happy to sacrifice a bit of ball playing from the keeper for a guy who’s as good as there is at doing his main job, keeping the ball out of the net? Getting it forward quicker seems to be getting far more out of Haaland too … Shockeroonie.

Im sure utds defence will make him work

He’s got some great saves in him but he is still inconsistent and cable of a brain fart or two quite often. But more importantly his wages simply wouldn’t work with our new wage structure and moving forward so any discussion about getting him was always pointless.

There seemed to be questions over Donnarumma, but I mean he's been Italy's no.1 for ages and is a top class goalie. He does what he is expected to do and no doubt his presence gives confidence to the rest of the team.
No doubt there will be the odd mistake, but every goalie has a mistake in him, and he should generally reliable, and most importantly, will probably help City gain some points this season.
Who knows what Lammens will be, but it's totally different circumstances, both in terms of we don't know how good he is and the calibre of team he is coming into
