Bit of noise surrounding Unai Emery

I think he’s be a steady, no risk appointment.

Really, football is about players, but I have zero doubts Emery would pick up more points than Amorim.

TBH I've no doubt Mick McCarthy would have picked up more points than Amorim so far.

Mick McCarthy probably has a better prem record. Most managers do.

He was pretty bad, especially at the end. Removed all the memorabilia celebrating the clubs achievements, didn't have the bottle to select his own captain, couldn't convince the board to sign players he wanted, made a bizarre selection in goal for the Europa league final, could not teach the team to defend a 1 or 2 goal lead despite asking them to do so every time.

There were good bits too, but his sacking wasn't unjustified.

A team is only as good as its players. The coach can only do so much and only if the players are playing for him. Make them play 4 at the back for a handful of games and lets see if they get better results. If they do sack Amorim. If they dont we are Championship.

It's Roy Keane for me.

Get a balanced head next to him and let him run riot.

Carrick and Keane, the CM duo we always needed.

Emery is good at a middle sized club, he’s not cut out for a massive club. Arsenal and PSG already showed that.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

You ain't an Arsenal or PSG. You're barely even on par with Villa these days.

----------------------------------------------------------------------
Yes, the transfer market clearly showed that didn't it?

Pointless statement process , not when clubs get 100’s of millions for just being in the prem

All 3 of our signings were wanted by other PL clubs that could offer CL football.

Glasner makes so much sense United will hire Emery

Does Glasner make sense? Plays a similar formation to Amorim and many believe the system is the biggest issue.

His choices are the issue, and will be for the next manager. Until the manager is ready to accept those experienced players who have been leading the last 4 managers to their failures need to be removed from their mantles. People are still arguing for how the new manager should play Bruno as an attacker so we can blame him less for his terrible play. He's meant to push out the 3 attackers we signed because he is just the greatest!

The next manager will fail. They will all fail till the clear out is complete.

Iraola for me.

The over performance he is achieving at Bournemouth consistently now is incredibly impressive.

Progressive attacking football that’s great to watch.

Tactically astute.

Player recruitment is on point. And players seem to really like him / fight for him.

Gets the green light from me ahead of the other mentioned managers for sure.

If Amorim doesn't tweak something, it's difficult to see him lasting. His recent words suggest he ain't of the mind to change how he is setting up for games.

My preferences would be either Glasner or Iraola. I would like to think that however they are set up at their current teams, they have the nous and adaptability to look at the Utd squad and use a system of play that suits the players best.

Every managerial appointment comes with risks, and every manager deserves time until it becomes clearly apparent that a lot of things are going wrong.

Amorim can talk a good game, but towards the end of last season and an indifferent start to this, he appears to be making more backwards steps than forward ones. I sincerely hope that something happens, he has a eureka moment and can turn things round, but it could quite simply be that he's not good enough for the job.

You might not like it but your squad has been built to play his system. Yeah it needs a midfielder but asking Iraola to recreate what he's doing at Bournemouth with your squad is doomed to fail.

This squad is nowhere near being built to play the system Amorim wants - the CBs aren't capable of what Amorim wants and the CMs are strong enough either. Players can adapt to systems within reason but you got to play the right players in their strongest positions and also be pragmatic in what they can and can't do.

The most important part of getting Amorim's system to work are the CBs and CM and how they interact - that has barely been changed at all.

A clear thinking manager will recognise that and adapt accordingly with the players he has. One would hope that Iraola / Glasner / another would recognise that and work with it accordingly, something that Amorim doesn't seem to have grasped

This is the mindset of a midtable team punching above its weight. Its why They look good for a while then crash back. Might as well bring back Ole, or Carrick.

Oh yeah I'm not arguing that Amorim is doing a good job at all. But you've got a glut of central defenders and number 10s. Granted I'm not an expert on Glasner's 3 ATB system, maybe he'd face the same issues you're talking about. But Iraola uses variants of 4231. IMO your squad is worse suited to that - you're only going to play one of Cunha, Bruno, Zirkzee, or Mount. Or you're wedging them in weaker positions, repeating the same thing Amorim's doing.

It's the club's fault for not having a clear vision about what United is. You really would've thought going all in on EtH's signings would've taught them something about long term planning
