First English side to get 6 wins in a row against Spanish sides in the CL/European cup.
Eze playing on the flanks at home against the so called smaller teams may work.
However, away agaibst the better teams, he isn't the type of wide player that works in this Arteta system
I can see us making the semis again. Question is can we go that step further this year. Need a bit of luck to get that big trophy.
If Arteta cant get it over the line with squad he has now he has to go,no more chances its on your bike time.

He has to win something.

Winning the mickey mouse cup or FA cup is not enough. Wenger was doing those trophies along with getting CL football 10 years ago.

That's very harsh.
The side that walked the league last season has just gone on a spending spree. Breaking the British transfer record, and then breaking it again, during the same window.
And the Champions League takes no prisoners. Legendary managers with legendary squads have struggled in the past.

Stop giving Liverpool too much credit. They only win so easily because we gad massive injury problems. They are not miles better than us. They finished 5th only a couple of seasons ago.

Liverpool had the benefit of a settled side last season. So did City before that.
What Arsenal need most is a bit of continuity. We can't spend half of every season bedding half a dozen players in.
We can't keep reinventing the side every season and expecting instant results.

Yeah then we rebuilt our midfield and finished third followed by first.
The thing with martinellis assist, he did that exact thing loads of times last season, but we never scored from it. Even trossard goal today was podgy.

They have every single official on their side
People forget we were without Ode, Saka, Havertz, White and Jesus. All players that could easily play in the first team.
That depths could bring us over the line.
Man City game will be real test. We have 2 extra rest days and playing at home. Must win that much to make a title challenge statement

We made a title challemge statement against them last season.
Then we made the exact opposite statement against West Ham.
What do you expect your best lineup to be once everybody is available?
Eze is a superb player but you guys seem to prefer a bit more of a utilitarian midfield, and your LW position is quite weak compared to RW so I wonder if he will spend most of his time there?
Saka I assume starts ahead of Madueke when fit, can Madueke play on the left?
Just curious.
Starting 11 when everyone fit:
Raya
Timber Saliba Gabriel Calafiori
Zubimendi Odegaard Rice
Saka Eze
Gyokeres

I really hate this narrative!
Yes, he's spent money, has a good squad now and we are looking good but we've all watched football long enough to know that no one has the 'right' to win anything and there are so many variables throughout the season (like LFC scoring a worldie, is that Arteta's fault?) that statements saying he should go if we don't win x or y, is just so simplistic....dismissing all that we have done and where we are...for what? No one is going to 'guarantee' trophies imo.
As good as Calafiori has been, his best position is as a LCB.
Hincapie will make LB position his eventually.
And yes , Eze is wasted out wide.
Eze has to play wide to accommodate Odegaard. That way we have two creative players in the final third while still keeping the power and defensive solidity of Declan Rice. There is no reason why Eze will 'stay' on the wing instead of naturally occupying space in the middle.

“ There are some questions about the midfield 3 that started. It’s not a good combination. Everyone knows it, except Arteta. Nwaneri, despite only 18, should be given the responsibility to take over in Odegaard’s absence.”
————————-
This is baffling, Merino is a squad player, he cannot play 10 !
As a result we had very little creativity from midfield & limited control - that didn’t help Eze at all…🙄
————-
“ Wide media opinion is that Arteta has to deliver this season and the pressure is on. This is the same opinion held by many Arsenal fans.”
————-
No it isn’t, only stupid Arsenal fans listen to the media hacks who have to say something to stay relevant.
We are at best the 4th richest club in the league, if anything Arteta has significantly over performed - the PL & CL are the only silverware of consequence & we have been in the mix for both. The season before last we were very unlucky.
Our fanbase should be careful what they wish for…
I think Arteta is so scared of a lack of goals without Saka he was trying to shoehorn in Merino. Merino is obviously the bigger goal scoring threat, but he doesn't give us the same amount of control as Rice in midfield. It is a tactical mistake and I hope he doesn't repeat it against City.
