only decided this morning to look for a ticket, as I was in London in the afternoon anyway, we looked much more organised and cohesive and played some good stuff second half

Yes the two points we dropped were valuable. However, I think as big a benefit to the team from that match will show in the self belief we gain.

Or am I talking carp?

Didn't watch the game so zero comment on performance. So did we switch to a back three at half time?
Seeing a lot of praise for Arias.

First half was backs to the wall and grateful to be level at the break. But excellent second half where we were by far the better team and sad we conceded late on to prevent a valuable win. Changed to three at the back at the break with the useless Hwang going off and Doherty who had done ok. In the second half Andre excellent, Krejci and Bueno good in defence, Johnstone solid in goal , Arias really good, and Tchatchoua a revelation at right wing back. Happy with one point but in the second half we deserved three. There is hope.

Interesting to see Hugo Bueno made captain in the second half and could have scored but for their keeper stopping his shot with his feet. Not sure what's going on with regard to Wolfe. Still not totally convinced about Larsen either.

For me Arias had his best game for us and was MotM. Johnstone's place now safe for a while. Krejci is quickly becoming indispensable, good games from Bueno, Tchatchoua and Doherty, possibly Andre's best game of the season too. Not sure if JSL is fully fit.

2 points dropped definitely, but let's not forget we were playing away against the team that were 3rd in the table.

Our problem is often following up these performances with the same intensity week after week. Spurs away in front of a 60k crowd is one thing, pulling that out against Sunderland and Burnley requires a mentality that we seem to lack. If we're approaching a settled line up and the players are starting to gel them this is Pereiera's next challenge.

We are starting to get more from the new signings. Krejci and Arias in particular and Tchatchoua looked really good in the second half yesterday. Lopez and Arokodare can make a mark from the bench, who knows about Wolfe. Johnstone, Santi Bueno, Hugo Bueno have all stepped up in recent games. We could do with Agbadou finding his form of last season. He came off the bench late yesterday but still had time for a couple of basic errors. Andre and Joao are both vital to us but Joao must get out of the habit of getting booked every game which led to him being taken off yesterday.

Overall there was plenty to be encouraged about yesterday. Next four games see us play Brighton and Burnley at home and Sunderland and Fulham away. We need a few points from those to catch up with the pack.

Optimistically looking for 6 points from those 4 games. 3 draws and a win against Burnley.

posted 2 weeks ago

6 points is the minimum requirement honestly. Even that would only give us 7pts after 10 games and very likely bottom.

Seeing a lot of optimism after yesterday but having missed it I am not feeling that personally. Excitement over a tactical change that was canned after 45 minutes and Hwang starting the game and still some shaky sub decisions leave me less positive.

Big concern, as it has been all season is our ineptness going forward. Supply lines are almost non existent.

Other than all that, things are looking rosy.

Must say I will only get optimistic if we win two of the next three games.

Still a huge task to get us our of this hole for sure but we actually controlled the second half yesterday which has to be cause for encouragement. Optimism is a bit out of context for me when you're talking about being optimistic of finishing 17th.

Do think the next 4 games are vital. If they go badly we could be cut adrift and it all becomes a bit inevitable. If we can get say 7 points then at least we will be in the mix. We have looked more like a team in the last two games than we were doing when we lost to Leeds.

Heard gossip on Saturday that the reason Andre was left out of the team on a couple of occasions was because Vitor was unhappy that he was turning up late for training. Hope that’s behind him now, he is such an important player for us, and to me our best player in the last two games.

Have you guys been playing like that all season and been unlucky with results?

posted 1 week, 6 days ago

No, we haven't been playing like that all season. That, particularly the second half, was our best performance.

Having said that, we haven't been playing like a team at the bottom of the table, in my opinion.

I thought some of your players looked really good. You dealt with Xavi and made him look like a kid..

Just realised that 4 different players wore the captain's armband the other night, and not one of them was the club captain, Toti, who came on late.

Doherty, Joao, Larsen then Hugo as each of the previous players was subbed off.

Bizarre having 4 captains. Doherty and Joao were both substituted because they had yellow cards and the risk of losing a player was too great. Larsen wasn’t fit enough to last 90 minutes so a bit strange to make him captain for a short time. Hugo I think got it as a reward for how well he’s been doing. Interesting to see who gets the armband next week.

I thought Xavi was poor as was Porro when he came on. With Wolves our summer signings came late in the window and then they were away for internationals so they’re only now setting in. We didn’t play well in the early games and that was compounded by silly defensive errors. Last couple of games have been much more encouraging.

U21s take on RB Leipzig tonight, who apparently don't have an official U21 team in the German leagues.

Carabao Cup game against Chelsea will be 29 October at 19:45

Might have gone to that but going to be away that week. Guessing it won't be £15 this time.
