I share your disappointment, but I think we need to put things into perspective.
Firstly, injuries are taking their toll - as they do on for all clubs - but our paperthin squad is missing key performers. Brayford, a few weeks ago, O'Brien & Robinson tonight dropped out. The team suffers from disruption.
Secondly, we came up against good opposition who have started slower than normal after many changes but are beginning to pick up form. A below par Derby against a better Cardiff side.
I think we've done well considering the players out, the financial restrictions the club is operating under, the players still at the club on good money (Leacock etc), the emergence of youngsters too, who we have relied on but are not a match for real experience (compare our bench with Cardiff's).
We will suffer setbacks, but I think we're heading in the right direction. I'm talking about the wider picture, not us dropping outside the play-offs.
I agree Atticus. Pathetic performance. We are paperthin squadwise. I said earlier that I worry when Buxton & Doyle are on our bench but now it gets even worse with Buxton looking at an extended stay in the squad at Right back.
We missed Robinson today, without him we don't get the ball high enough up the pitch.
Bennett, I think we should forget about him for 2 years.
Aside from your injuries, Bennett should've got 1 appearance, just to act as motivation to the other younger lads. But if I were you, despite your injuries, I'd put him in the reserves.
Without wanting to 'moan', to say our squad was thread-bare is an understatement! Not only haven't we got COVER in positions we haven't even got PLAYERS in positions ALL OVER THE PITCH!!!
In particular - nothing up front whatsoever and NO outlet all game.
Desperate.
At the end of the day, and I'll keep saying it till I'm blue in the face, we haven't got enough experience in the team. We haven't got an experienced mid-field player, and we certainly didn't have an experienced striker on the pitch tonight! You cannot play an spl player and a 15 year old against a team like Cardiff.
Yes, poor performance but lets get it in context.
You just knew after 5 minutes that the inevitable was going to happen and it duly did. Then you hoped it wouldn't get worse - it did. Then you hoped it wasn't going to get embarrassing - it didn't - just.
Bright points: Shackell and Ben Davies, Ward tried hard and put himself about - again.
Maguire.... and he wonders why he doesn't always get picked??? Mason Bennett: should have had Cywka on from the start...(yeah, yeah I know - hindsight...).
As your man above said "we are going in the right direction" but arhhhhggg!!!!....it's SO frustrating.
UTR
Well, it'll be interesting to see what kind of reaction we get on Saturday. Peterborough are on a run of defeats but did beat Cardiff at home in a surprise result & thumped Ipswich. It's how we bounce back that matters.
We do have our better players to return, it's just frustrating that several of them won't be back even after the next international break.
The games are coming thick and fast now, so unfortunately injuries are more commonplace and players like Hendrick probably need to get used to playing competitive football on a regular basis. I wouldn't be surprised if others are carrying injuries, but are still being forced to play.
Bennet was fantastic won headers and troubled defenders. Much better than Maguire- he could have made us concede about 6 alone with his poor passing
November will define Derby's season, If Derby stay in the top 10 we will have done well as there are some very tough matches comning up.
If "some" people think the squad doesn't need bolstering then they are in for a rude awakening!
I also think we are moving in the right direction, SLOWLY! I also think that without a deeper squad, that forward momentum is very fragile. Over to the board, after all, they did say they were going to go for it this year! Don't hold your breath.
Deluded sheep, the only way is down from here on in...the bubble has burst...if it ever was inflated.
Deluded bin robber......... remind us where you are in the league after spending 20mil You just carry on looking for your new manager.
The greatest thing about Leicester is the sign that says 'You are now leaving Leicester'.
The next best thing about Leicester is that Roy Keane will be their next manager.
Nice to see you tonight, View. Sorry I didn't recognise you at first.
Roy Keane & Leicester: a marriage made in Hong Kong (to quote Clive James)
It won't be like last season you probably won't be quite so close to a relegation battle and you've not been humilated by us at the CG
Still you'll have your anual gloat about losing in the play off semi final again!
Nonleague out!!!
Or do you like him this week?
Difficult to tell with you lot.
Good old Wurzel, bringing love to the City Ground dressing-room.
I bet Wes & Chambo & Andy Reid are all holding hands together, singing the Beatles 'All You Need Is Love' before Reading
Great inspired bit of management there, Mr Cotterill.
I thought Jamie Ward and Jason Shackell came out of the game with a lot of credit. Shackell hardly loses anything in the air and he is composed. Ward never stops running and never gives up. Some of his defensive play was excellent. Hendrick also did well and looks totally competant in his role.
I thought Maguire was very poor. He continually gave the ball away and he looked out of his depth. Roberts was poor and in my opinion has always been out defensive weakness.
Kilbaine was nervous and negative.
At half time, I was in the concourses of the East stand and I heard a lot of negative comments about Frank Fielding, which surprised me a little. He was at fault for at least one of Cardiff's goals however.
No-one has mentioned the referee or the linesmen. They were completely hopeless. I was in line with our back four for their third goal and from where I was Etherington looked 3-4 yards offside. It wasn't even close and as a result, the game was over.
What about the way Bennett was being pushed, shoved and pulled in the box for every single one of our corners.?
Cardiff did look a decent side, but we made it easy for them and so did the officials.

As said above we are going in the right direction but a couple of tweeks here and there from the loan market would make a big difference.
Thing is we cant/wont pay the wages of anybody worth having and anything Clough achieves at Derby will be despite GSE and because of them!
*possible*
*despite GSE and not because*
Agree with you, Bushwacker, esp your final comment (Clough & GSE). It's all about timing, we shouldn't get loans in just for the sake of them (Javan Vidal from Man City who barely featured), but a decent signing or two to help us through to January.
Though critical of GSE, the failure to shift Leacock, Pearson & Bywater is hurting us.
Thought Jorvik made a good point about November being a decisive month.
