A LEGEND???
Did I miss something?
Bluetoon
nope, because im sad to say phil didnt have the same level of recognition as speed. everyone who knows football in the uk knows who gary speed is, and everyone who knows football rated him.
personally i think phil should have got more recognition, but not a lot you can do if hes not that well known unfortunately.
well done celtic I say
surprised the game is not postponed ti izzy is back fit
How was Speed a British Footballing Legend?
+++++
Whit the fek has your summary of his football career got to do with it???
He played for 20 odd years and entertained people...most of all, he was a right good guy. That to me deserves respect

Keny.
Fair comment, but will you be doing it at the weekend as well? Just think it would be a better thing to do then.
Can't be ersed with the point-scoring.
Also to show up something in the OP, the comment made by Ish was about a two minute applause on the 7th minute and not a minutes applause pre-game.
can honour a british football legend ok, but not the british servicemen?
TCD there are plenty good guys who die everyday. What makes Speed so special?
Some of the rangers fans here are so sad
It's not often I'm shocked at the death of someone connected to football if I'm honest, but when I heard Kevin Gallagher on the radio talking about Speed I couldn't quite believe it.
Suicide is not a topic that's easy to disccuss, so it's pointless going there. If he wasn't shown respect then there would be those who used that for point scoring as well.
Fact is that he is going to be shown respect, he was a manager of a British home nation. As it should be really when I think about it.
auchinairn - others are entitled to their opinion. Just cos its not the same as yours, doesnt mean its wrong you know.
Its a wee bit like the fake sympathy when a celebrity dies. When Heath Ledger was found dead there were all sorts on the news crying about he was a special person etc.
I just don't get it?
Turning into the usual - catch you later, guys.
the speed situation is extremely sad to everyone connected to football, the guy deserves respect, cant people just respect other human beings?
bravis - truth hurt or something?

Its a minutes applause....we are not building a shrine...
Its paying respect. If you dont agree with it dont clap...
If, heaven forbid, Bobby Charlton passed away tomorrow I would expect the same treatment.Never played in Scotland but the respect would be there regardless..
Its sad that people can only see this as a points exercise....
Renegade, thats it, but theres a few on here who are narrow minded and dont see that side of it.
Gary Speed was a man who was connected with British Football for over twenty years. A man who is recognised throughout the whole of Britain, not only a good footballer, but from those that had met him a good person.
Davis
Yes there is plenty of good people who die everyday, but Speed was in the spotlight and played a sport I love, not only that he always came across like a gentleman
Only Ranger s player are special to you
I am shocked by some comments on here and am looking at some of you in a diffrent light.......
I would call resepect what Celtic are doing
IE, reverse the question...
Plum
Bravis cant handle the truth.
They showed disrepect to fallen servicemen but now it's Gary Speed there all grief stricken
Its really sad and shocking news to find out so if people want to pay respect to him they can.
