changing the goalposts

we were talking about losing to small clubs.. and you lost out, so you changed the debate

i want to know why all you goooners are waanking each other off because you think you will sign suarez, and are putting him in your screenames.... that is something i would expect from a little club, like the type of clubs that were beating you last season

yes and no

plenty of work, but growth is fast and we turned down investment because we were about to get a big contract
then the contract went south at the last minute and we're scrabbling to pay peoples wages this month, sales people out in the field have been pushing everything and the rest of us have been accelerating product development but it's hard to get things signed off quickly in enterprise sales.

waiting for a decision on an important one today so chilling out a bit at home after the madness by posting some drivel here while everyone mooches around with an air of nervousness in the office, really didn't want to be there today. need to get a month in where i can sleep.

we're moving our tech base up north btw, can't handle london prices anymore, it's like chucking money into a pit

Be honest, you've been building a competitor system to JA606 (ban him !!! ) .

But when the money is rolling in, you'll look back at these past few months and wonder why you ever worried.

Property costs ??
I would have thought office costs would be dirt cheap in the SE since the financial crash.

People costs, we're competing with something of a bubble down here because of the investment money being chucked into crap tech companies that chuck money at people to build a crap app that gets chucked.

Office cost's aren't too bad, there's loads of free space readily available anyway if you know the right people, but everyone went to shoreditch because it was cheap, now its almost equivalent to the west end and more expensive than canary wharf, which is totally stupid.

Ah, the "craplet" builders.

On my travels I see places like Leatherhead, Kingston etc that are only 20-30 mins train from town every 15 mins etc. With cheaper office space too.

But companies going up north is good (too much structural distortion caused in the economy by the SE) .

This has been recognised by the govt actually, there's lots of funds in the north and midlands where sme's can get pretty decent grants just for being there, another reason to move.

Also not only does the bubble push up prices it means you get a higher staff turnover, whereas up noorf people tend to have less itchy feet.

"whereas up noorf people tend to have less itchy feet."

Until the bubble expands there too (which it will) .
Just like in India and China. As the opportunities and prosperity increases, the staff retention rates start plummeting.

You flatter me.
But I am telecoms (and kindred things) .

Even systems I have developed that could be called "enterprise" have still involved far more telecoms domain than bog std s/w stuff.

Given the time of year, and where you're relocating, pick yourself up a new grad who you can make into a decent long-term employee of your firm.

I am available for 'free' consultancy though (if you are like Admin1 and always implement logical "read only" functions with at least 10 DB R/W transactions etc) .
