My condolences go out to his family and friends and the wider footballing family at Forest at this sad time.
Dont think the game should be played now out of respect for the man.
Truely shocking and saddening news!
I was a long time critic of Doughty and the way he ran the club but when something like this happens it just puts things into perspective. Football is simply a game and we all sometimes lose ourselves in our angst however it is only a game, a sport! For today and certainly the next few days the future of NFFC is not very important!
RIP Mr Doughty, heartfelt condolences to his family...
every football fan should forget the banter on these boards tonight and show their respect for Mr Doughty and his family and friends at this sad time.

I don't think the game should be played.
I can't change my forum name by the way, I've tried 6 times now.
RIP ND
RIP Nigel
True red to the end, we will never forget what you did for Forest. Best wishes to your family and friends.
RIP NIGEL
I suspect he died from congenital heart condition such as HOCM or else it was sudden MI.
I doubt very much his death is related to Forest fan abuse.
The guy was young talented and bright and strong enough to cope with any thing dished out by Forest fans.
You do not get as successful as he was without being made of strong stuff.
Respect to him and his family - he death and success puts things in perspective.
I have on going healthy concerns myself a genetic tendency to heart disease - only found out recently it makes you wonder whether the daily grind is worth it.
RIP. he was your Lionel Pickering. complements don't come higher than that from a true ram.
I know this is not the time and place but what happens to the club and the debt?
Sadly I'm expecting the usual morons in the east stand to shout something stupid. If they can't even respect some of their own players (i.e. Theo Robinson) then frankly I dont hold out much hope for the late ND.

Don't care who you support you should show respect when something like this happens.
It should not stop the game from going ahead anyway and what better incentive for forest to go out and get 3 points against us in honour of Mr D.
RIP.
Tomorrow I shall travel the 9 miles from home to the ground, three & me, the other three will be in black & white; we shall have banter on the way, banter on the way back, banter in the pub later, for 90 mins I almost hate them; BUT for the few mins before kick-off all four will show respect (I know because I have just phoned them).
I really do hope “black & red” will be united for a short time as we pay respect to a man who did give a lot to football.
I don't know what is the best thing for the clubs to do. A minute's applause somehow seems a bit crass so soon after the event when people are still shocked and digesting the news, perhaps not yet in the mood to celebrate his achievements. But it's better than a minute's silence which is often broken, not necessarily by morons, sometimes by those coming in late who don't know what's happening. It would be awful for some fans to seize on this as an example of showing disrespect and use it as an excuse to stoke up hatred. You would hope something like this would be a chance for fans to show they are something approaching human, and maybe to reduce the general nastiness that surrounds the fixture, a match which for that reason I don't generally look forward to or enjoy.
regardless of others, I hope most will show respect.
My merger regards go out to his family.
Does anyone know if the game is still on? There has been no official statement from either club. ( weather and not the sad Doughty death)
united red and black thats a first well done rams fans
We've been united in the past, treehugger - but it's a shame that it's always tragedy that brings us together.
Personally I hope the game is called off tomorrow.
If the snow keeps coming, I can see it being called off.
Yep I`m not sure it should go ahead I think both clubs will be in shock Forest obviously so,
I guess Nigel would probably have wanted the game played out but should Forest request a replay I hope we would honour it.
Game on according to official site. Mind you I think that's more to do with the weather than the demise of ND.
I agree with you OOE. Call it off I say. Something has been lost because of the sad news
