Speaks volumes that jacko, just shows most people are realists and not deluded
62% thought Town would only finish in the play-offs again too..
So that's no improvement on our 3rd place from last season, Mirf.
I arn't as confident as this time last year, maybe I have too many play off scars? Or trust Clark with my club even less?
The Examiner survey was only done by "hundreds" of fans anyway and these no doubt included the usual bunch of Doubters, such as 38, Cas, Wethers, Jacko, Brycey, Hydy and a host of other similar minded fans. So that still leaves 13,000 plus fans, including such as me, who didn't take part in the survey, so it wasn't representitive.
30% thought we would get auto promotion and another 62% believe we will reach the play off's. So lets be honest here, if it has to be promtion via this route, so what? - have you lot never heard of third time lucky - even McCombe says that our fantastic strength in depth will win out, particularly once our nearest rivals pick up a few injuries.
As for season ticket sales, 42% will buy one next season and 30% are undecided. So lets be honest here, when we clinch promotion all the doubters and the remaining 28% will be "frothing at the gills" to get theirs renewed, with prospects of seeing all the Championship stars down at the The Galph.
mirf on your continued optimism, well done,I'm serious btw.
It is representative Mirf, it is representative of the fans who did the survey!
My mid season review, not good enough, Clark out! Does he want the England job?
Mirf, you sound like a Conservative MP, selecting whichever stat suits you, and those that don't, then the stat isn't representative...are you David Cameron Mirf ?
What do you think about the NHS Bill, and the Welfare Reform Bill, Bank bonuses, Execs Bonuses and £m+ pay packages..???? I guess you think everything will be alright in the end..?
Oooouf, Politics, They all pee in the same pot, But i cannot do with folk who say cameron this conservatives that when Labour have allowed the country to be flooded with foreigners and handed out enough benefit payments to make it "not worthwhile working", Sold the gold for pittance and almost bankrupted the country.,,,,,,,,Mirf - I dont do any surveys whatsoever, So count me out of your reckoning, Looks like lots of other fans think the same though ! Perhaps you are now in a minority ?
My mid season survey.....
Could/should be doing better.
Lee Clark for L666ds?????
Why not.
Will I buy a Season Ticket for next year??
I've sat through Eoin Hand(I was quite young), Mick Wadsworth and Andy Ritchie, so yes I will
Depends solely on the price for me Inter, Only so much spare cash, If we go up i fear the prices will be just too much for me.
Mirf, regarding your 13,000 other fans , what if THEY think like the names you quoted on here earlier? I believe they do, your in a minority me thinks Mirf.
jacko,
I come from a staunch labour supporting family but have developed strong leanings towards the Cons, although currently I can't see much difference between any of the three main parties, who are all a "shower of sh-t" as far as I'm concerned.
Once they show some balls and start standing up for our rights and tell the EU and their poxy judges to keep their noses out of our business, it might re-ignite my faith in them.
As for LV saying "mid season review - not good enough" I'm lost for words.
So, we have shown good steady improvement on last season, when we had 5 points less at the same stage, have suffered only two defeats against 9 last season, scored 9 more goals and conceded 4 less and are clear third in table same as last season and still some on here can't see the improvement.
I've said all along that we'll end up with 92-94 point and where we are right now compared to last season fully justifies my prediction.
So, it's definite promotion for me and an increase in season ticket sales and attendances next season, irrespective of what a few hundred fans might say on the Examiner poll.
its not representative because it does not agree with mirf....
i think we are in a strong position to take 3rd or 4th again.. we probably will affect the top 2 positions by drawing at home with united, charlton and wendies.. although i suspect all 3 of their managers will be a little dissapointed not to have taken all 3 points, whilst our manager will talk up the "non performance" against a "very good, strong team" and be happy that we are still "in the mix"..
thats the difference between winners and "nearly men"...
Mirf, you're making the same mistake..confusing 'stats' with 'progress'..It doesn't matter one iota how long we're unbeaten, how many goals we scored or conceded or where we were last year in comparison, the only thing that matters is 1st or 2nd place...everything else is not an end in itself, and besides sheff utd will push us into 4th place when they've played games in hand..and MKD could run us close for 5th place too..with their games in hand.
fact is all the top teams have more points than last years comparison..so it's total bawlorcks..we are under-acheiving..
We should have at least 20 more points than we have from carelessly throwing away wins for draws...and it was exactly the same last season...= No Progress...
I don't live in Huddersfield so don't read the Examiner Mirf, and the Examiner website is awful so don't visit that either, I had nothing whatsoever to do with that vote...
You can keep calling people negative and things like that, but the fact is when I started I was in the minority, but now I'm pretty sure I'm in the majority. I remember away at Walsall last season I took some right stick from some of the away regulars for stating we weren't good enough and were depending on luck too much. This season I've had apologies from pretty much all of them...
Cas,
Looks like you'll be doing all the apologising then come May ?
the majority of the "away support" celebrated quite a few away wins last season, in the full knowledge that we had been very lucky to get away with them.. we then all watched the dreadfull home draws, most from winning positions and a few from what appeared to be positions that we couldnt possibly surrender..
anyone who was at tranmere this season and who saw the defeat by bournemouth should be fully aware of this teams ability to do "nothing" for long periods in games and their ability to "gift" goals to the opposition.. Stupid thing is we could beat united, charlton and wendies and then drop points almost any other times.. the stats show a consistency which unfortunately for mirf, does not take into account a few other teams being less "consistent" but gathering more wins..
The team we have now is an extension of LC's character..slow, indecisive but with moments of panic ...
Jacko,
Perhaps you'd like to explain then, how any team with those characteristics manage to suffer only a couple of defeats in fifty odd league games?
And don't come back with the word "luck", because you make your own luck in all aspects of life.
luck does not even come close to describing how town have got away with only losing two games.. not even close..
unbelievable is a better description.. some of the misses by opponents during this "run" have been unbelievable..
I know i saw them..
I know a good draw and a decent performance when i see one..
he aint fooling me or a good number of others anymore..
the luck ran out at old trafford, simple.. they didnt miss and the deflection went in instead of wide like they had been doing for some time.. the couple of half chances we had didnt go in like they had been doing..
we dont do enough, often enough to "make our own luck" the lack of penalties is a good pointer... mk dons did "enough" to get a point and thats what happened, not luck, just doing enough...
I said at the start of the season we will get Automatic, and I'm sticking to that. We are well placed and there's still a long way to go. I find it funny how people always think teams behind us will win all their games in hand - this usually never happens. Much better to have the points on the board in the first place. I shall be following the Wendies/Blades games with interest today.
By the way, mid season surveys are meaningless.
they're only meaningless when you don't agree with the results...
Charlton game off now too...so just cheering exeter and wycombe...
Andy... Southampton did last season!
Beat the Blades on Tuesday and we could claim 2nd spot again. Simple really.
HUGE game, hope we fans turn up in big numbers!
