So Pogba gone?

Bebe was brought to be a first team player, but that didn't work out. Pogba is from the youth academy. There's a difference, and isn't Bebe older?

posted on 25/2/12

Why should it be different?

SAF has said he doesn't look at anything but ability. And Pogba has more ability than Bebe.

Bebe was bought into the club 2 years ago now, Pogba was still in reserve football then. The contract doesn't change the weekly pay just because there's a new youth player on the scene. And Fergie thought he found talent in Bebe, but he didn't.

If he goes to Juve and flops doesn't necessarily mean he'd had flopped here. Same with Morrison, if he flips at West Ham doesn't mean he would have flopped here.

We can't keep losing these players.

I understand. But please people should not mention Cleverley.

He's played 7 games, is out for 3 more weeks. Has had 4 major injuries in his career already.

Pogba needs game time. But instead we play Owen in central midfield in the League Cup.

At the end of the day it's your opinion that you think Pogba should be in the first XI or the bench, but Fergie knows best and I'd trust him in handling the situation correctly purely because he's a veteran in this type of situation of management.

I agree with SLM to a degree, about not losing these promising players but then you also have to consider, if you give one player leeway, you're effectively encouraging everyone else to go do the same.

Morrison may very well have been a great talent, but at such a young age he was already showing us all what a character he was going to be. You're playing for Man United, you're hailed as one of the brightest to come out of the youth academy, and instead of concentrating on that, he was more focussed about other activities in his life. The best thing for him would have been to send him somewhere where he might stay out of trouble. [I admit, sending him to London isn't exactly going to help]

If Pogba does want to go, then we just let him even though yes it'll be a bloody shame! He showed a great desire and attitude, but just because we've got someone knocking on the door, doesn't mean we open it for them if the Manager himself doesn't believe he's not ready. I think he would have got far more game time if we were up a few goals against an opposition, but we rarely are.

If he decides not to wait, then that is his call. However, look on the bright side, most of the players will now keep their heads down in the youth set-up, as at least we've not encouraged another one to come threatening that if he doesn't play, he'll leave.

But that's the thing. Will Keane is probably the last "wonder talent" (made up word) in the reserves or youth.

After that, nobody else is going to be a first team player at Manchester United.

==================

Err, according to Physioroom, Cleverley will have a late fitness test ahead of the Norwich game.

I doubt he's going to be out for 3 weeks. Might be out tactically until just after the next England game

Guardian and other broadsheets say 3 weeks.

So Jack Barmby or Mats Daehli or Gyliano van velzen don't rank high? How about Davide Petrucci? Ryan Tunnicliffe?

I trust PhysioRoom over the broadsheets when it comes to players' injuries

Spot on. I dont want to lose Pogba, but there is no way we can let an unproven 18 year old hold us to ransom.

I'm sure Fergie said he has the option to extend is contract by one year anyway? Even if pogba doesn't want to. Either that or his contract runs out next year. Either way he won't be leaving this summer.

Ok, I'll take them in order.

Gyliano van Velzen - Slowest winger you'll ever see, makes Beckham look fast. Has bern shifted up from and is hardly prolific. Played in FAYC run, kept behind this year to further develop.

Daeli - mentioned him in my OP, good player, small player and we don't play 4-3-3. Where would he fit in?

Jack Barmby - Good player, stand out in academy? Hardly! Better than Keane last year, nope. Can you see him in our first team?

Petrucci - I love Petrucci, but he's not even in CC squads and he's like 21. Think he is quality though.

Tunnicliffe - Had to play in a reserves match a few days ago as he's not getting games for Peterborough. Has the engine, just not the ability.

I keep saying, if you're gonna bring in Bebe, based on a YouTube video on £30,000 a week. Why should Pogba not feel he's worth more?

posted on 25/2/12

Bebe doesn't play the same position as Pogba so I don't think Pogba will even care. I think the fact he hardly even gets a game would be more worrying.

posted on 25/2/12

Who, Pogba or Bebe?

posted on 25/2/12

Pogba. Sorry I wasnt clear.

I also feel that this is down to his agent. His agent probably knows what a good player Pogba is and is telling Pogba he could get more money elsewhere, whilst playing football consistently.

posted on 25/2/12

Well SAF has tried every trick.

Including him in squads,

Having him on the bench like its the pitch like a carrot.

But in my eyes he just risks antagonising Pogba.
