it's not a midfield brute we need...it's someone to sit down with our 17,823 midfielders and explain a few basic principles...the first one being to watch a video of man utd or barcelona and make a mental note of how they hunt in packs, how they work and harrass and close down the opposition to get the ball back.
These are players at the very top etchelon of world football, but they are not shy of grafting hard, running their nuts off as we'd say.
having watched this video, i would replay it again, and again and again...and I'd send 'em home with a copy each and tell them to watch one single player...see what he does, and why it is so effective.
Simple really, it's just plain hard work and running...something our own 'top' players seem to think is beneath them. Almost as if it is 'uncool' to do the hard running required.
Once the ethos of hard work is totally engrained in their heads, we will find that we have more possession, the defence is under less pressure and the forwards have more ball..
Anyone can work hard of they are fit....
Like Jacko says just some loon who will run around for 90 minutes. Karl Henry at Wolves is talentless but would be excellent.
For the life of me i can't understand why Robinson or Johnson haven't worked out.
My hope is that Peter Clarke is watching from the sidelines and can see the mistakes he has been making and the rest of them still are. He can then come back kick some ass.
Trust you to beat me to it Boooothy .. I was just about to come on and say ~ Perhaps that man is already with us and staring us in the face ..
Can Captain Courageous Peter Clarke Play Midfield .. Certainly he's got ALL the other Credentials .. and what a rock he would be eh ..
JK - there's dating sites for this sort of thing.
Spot on Jacko!
I posted something similar last week about a 'terrier' type player. However, we don't need another thug at Town, we already have Kay.
From the last few posts I have read, some folk need to settle down. Grayson has limited time and yes, limited players at his disposal. Grayson will sort things out! However, I think an auto place is now out of sight, principally because Grayson will now know that there needs to be changes to the team and the formation. So, he'll make drastic changes, even though initially he said he wanted to start his tenure with the same team Clark had left.
I just wonder if the team/squad are too young. They make some almost unforgivable mistakes, individually and collectively!
In my opinion, it's time to ruffle somes feathers and for Grayson to be bold and make changes. A faint heart never won fair lady!
Larry has yet some cards to play .. The Three Clarkes Tom Clarke springs to mind (Not the Dominant Enforcer i'm punting for in this thread) but if everyones being given a chance .. Well some might say there are worse players starting in the current first 11 .. ?
I love Tom Clark but feel he is a limited footballer. However, would i have like to see him yesterday clattering into a few tackles? You bet i would. Bearing in mind his injuries, the bravest player i've seen at Town, something that only comes from having an attachment to the club. I'm afraid when players come purely for the money, we won't get that from many of the current crew.
Good call Huddsfan. I have no idea if Bullard is even interested in playing football anymore, from the outside looks like one of those players who got the big contract and happy with his lot. But wow what a signing that would be if he was up for it. Ipswich would be happy to let us have him i imagine.
Our midfield always looks better with DJ in it, sorted.
Also, I'm loving being proved right by young Jack yesterday - am I still not allowed to change my opinions on players?
Cas .. You being proved right against The Bootster .. .. ..
What Bollox .. We were doing great .. .. till Hunty went off ~
He had to and Larry was right to 'Save him from a Potential Red' ~ I was sat right where all his action was taking place and both Grella & Worral were TWO MAN'ING him time and again .. Which Bt way is a measure of just how serious opposition managers are taking him ..
I think thats gr8 and speaks volumes as to just how fast his careers being carved out ..
He tugged on Worrals shirt & picked up a harsh card for it~ It wound him up (in the same way we've all seen Rooney riled) n Joey tried to calm him .. It wasn't gonna work ~ though a half time team talk MAY have .. Grayson was naturally keen to see Woods and I've no problem with the decision .. Just your analysis Cas tho of course being sat at the other side of the park how could you see such fine detail ..
As for Woods .. He'd nowt defensively to do 2nd half as Aboo on the other wing was doing all the attacking against Naysmith .. Certainly he didn't perform the Lively Raiding Wing Back (Ouch Captn Dubbs) Attacking Role that Hunty had done in the first half helping pile up the goals .. One could make a case for saying that Sub cost us the game ~ But hey would I be so churlish ..
Jacks got The Micah Richards about him .. And I've every faith in the lad.. Whether Larry picks him on Tuesday is debatable but I won't be cross if he don't ~ He's a Real PLAYER in Progress .. its all ahead of him .. Go Get it Hunty .. ..
As I've just said on the other thread, you're desperately making excuses for the lad. He was double teamed and targeted because they knew if they got at him then he'd either make a mistake or give a foul away, which more often than not he did. I've never slated his attacking abilities bur first and foremost he needs to be able to defend. Woods came on and managed the right hand side well enough while they turned their attention to the ageing Naysmith where they found more joy. It's not very difficult to see these things, we see them week in week out...
Work in progress... Potential... Could be... Will be... Should be... One for the future...
All mean he MIGHT be decent one day, but right now he's a liability.
From what I've seen of him this season plus MOTM two games ago tells me he's MORE than just your "Might Be Decent One Day" Cas .. But hey as I've said before you always like to hedge your bets with .. "He Might Be" .. Try Forming an Opinion and Stick with it ..
At Worst You'll be wrong .. So What .. Your only a Youn G Un .. ..
hunt got his ars- kicked..
he lost his temper and his cool..
he needs to be taken out for a while and to try and remember that he is a kid playing in a 3rd division team... he is only playing for us because lee clark spent all our money on midfielders and forgot about the defence..
he should still be on the bench or in the reserves(if we had a reserve team) learning his role...
He simply forgets that he is a defender first.. he needs re educating.. He is not a good enough player to fulfill a true "wing back role", yet.. he gets himself in lots of daft positions and is want to wander about ballwatching..
Work in progress...
Age has nowt to do with it, I've seen and played more than enough football to know what I'm talking about. Okay, Jack Hunt will never play in the Premier League. Good enough for you? Just like Jordan Rhodes will never be successful in the Premier League.

I like hunt, id like him to be coached better as a defender first rather than this silly idea that he is a "wing back", we havent been defensively good enough to have wing backs since mally brown...
**************************************************************************
Well well well .. Your post above (from another thread) does rather conflict with yer last post on this one 38 .. Yep .. ? .. ..
As for "LIKING Hunt" .. Well you could'a fooled me .. But hey I'll take it .. Just as I'll take Cas's Candid Comments ~ Ref Higher leagues for Hunty ..
Their Archived Cas .. ..
Right Boots your job is to archive the predictions. Here's mine, Jack will be a good player for Town but never make it to the top. Jordan Rhodes is going all the way, proper goal scorers score wherever, whenever they play, they can't help it. Whichever team get him this summer are in for a treat.
Where is Cryer to tell us how his mum can head the ball better than Rhodes?
Here Archive this one Boooothy (as its one of me own and I do like a sense of fairness) .. Larry and his Two Lambs WILL take us into The Championship .. This Very Season .. .. If after 12 days 38 doesn't think so then let him say so .. As Per Clarky 38 ~ Invitation Extended
