Did seem very strange. Think he was trying to say that a good performance may lead to a win but it didn't come across too well. Either that or he's trying to pull the wool over wigans eyes which I can't see working. Wigan will be prepared as Leeds are still a good side
if Leeds have thrown the towel.....Barrow threw everything in tonight another defeat on bloody Sky....
Me and may mate from Leeds has just spoken about this...Rugby League is a very funny game...surely you should go into every game to win?
OK it may seem you have a better chance in beating a "smaller" team in the league, but still...Taxi for McDoughnut?
Yes, but only because Hetherington asked him to.I doubt that Macbarmpot has very little say in things.
Leeds are a team on the slide under McDermott, he is odd always looks angry and harrassed by life, he seems a coach who would do well in development of the game for kids but SL coaching is a step too far for him.
He was luck to get the Leeds job with no success to call his own, Hetherington seems to be calling all the shots and they are not paying off as before.
in fairness to Mcdermott he did take over a sinking ship at Leeds with star players who are now past their sell by date.
it looks like a clear out at leeds at the end of the season
Agree with Barra. He took on an ageing squad, many of whom Bluey/GH had given (undeserved?) extensions.
I reckon Leeds fans should give him another year to see if he can develop owt decent - after offloading some of the dead wood.
On the flip side, he can't just write of this season and him offering pessimistic (albeit realistic) pre-match talks will infuriate even the most patient of supporters.
IMO he seems a bit fed up. Dunno if he's getting stick from some of the South Standers? But he's supposed to be a tough cookie, so he needs to just crack on and try his best to coach & motivate his team (with victory in mind EVERY week.)
He was employed as a fall guy, to deflect criticism away from Hetherington, where most of the blame should be directed. No win situation but he was desperate to return north from the good ship harlequins.
