End the Jose Era NOW

So, after 5 wins we were being told that Jose has learned, made us more attacking and we’d turned a corner. Exercising some caution was the best option though, as we’ve ‘turned corners before’ only to revert to type.

Sure enough that’s what happened on Sunday. Tactically Jose has an absolute shocker, playing an attacking line up but a defensive strategy. It was obvious from 30 secs in that our strategy was to sit 20 yards in front of our goal and hoof it to Son. Doherty has no protection and was targeted, we got an undeserved goal by moving up the pitch after Lamela came on, only to then retreat to defensive mode again - only now with no runner. How many times have some of us said - you concede 70% possession and rely on an average defence to win you games, you increase your % chance of errors, set pieces being given away etc. When we did play the ball on the ground the passing and retention was so poor we couldn’t beat their press, which eventually lead to the penalty.

A 2-1 defeat in an NLD could be accepted if the effort was there, but to watch such a gutless, insipid and tactically inept showing was totally unacceptable in a game that means so much to the fans.

And yet, we had a chance for instant redemption, to see out the Zagreb game and make the EL QF, our only realistic chance of salvation this season. But the manager went a step further, picking a woeful midfield and defence, not looking for the goal that would’ve killed the game and evidently failing to energize or motivate the players to right the wrong of the NLD. To give 3 goals away like that was a disgrace - Sanchez, Aurier, Sissoko Davies and Dier, all pedestrian and positionally lost i those goals, reduced to dangling legs out in pathetic last ditch attempts to stop them. A second disgraceful showing in 4 days.

I wish I could say this is the worst week in years at Spurs, but it’s not. It’s the worst week since Feb, when we lost to Liverpool, Chelsea and Brighton with a hat trick of three of the worst performances I’ve seen for 15 years at the club, right in the middle of a run that saw us take 11 points from 36 and concede 5 whilst getting eliminated from the FA Cup. And those games were only the worst since the scandalous performances against Leicester and Wolves.

The players are culpable here, it’s not all on the manager. I said when Poch got sacked some of these players are fully responsible. But Jose has rebuilt this squad; he’s had Ndombele, GLC, Reguilon, Hoijbjerg, Bale, Bergwijn, Doherty and yet the defence, the mentality, the style of play is all worse than when he took over. After the game yesterday he once again threw the players under the bus - but he gets paid £15m a year to be accountable. That’s how football works - this is a team in his image and he is accountable, must accept responsibility and must pay the price.

Enough is enough. We have nothing left to play for this season, the LC even if we won would be virtually meaningless given the circumstances. The cold light of today is the time to start the rebuild. Big football clubs are like governments, they moan about money but can always find it when it’s needed. Well it’s needed now, we have wealthy backers and the cash cow of TV money, use it please to end this era of misery at our club and remove the manager immediately. It’s about time Levy stood up and took responsibility for his dreadful decision making.

Baldilocks will probably be waiting until we can no longer mathematically finish in the top 4 before wielding the axe, either that or he is skint and can`t afford to sack him

Went on BBC sport today and genuinely expected to see Mourinho sacked as headline news but no such luck.

Earth to Levy HELLO are you with us. Waiting for the international break perhaps but I see no benefit continuing this farce until the summer.

Everyone else doing what I’m doing today? Constantly refreshing football websites in the hope we get the news he has been sacked

The squad players let him down last night but that’s on him too. He can’t motivate them anymore. Too many thrown under the bus remarks

Anyone reading that idiot Wahls article ? I hope for his/hers sake that they are either related or in a relationship. Its embarrassing

I’d take the kit man as manager right now. Just anyone but Jose. I can’t even bare to watch his interviews or see his face now

He is ruining our club !
----------------------------------------------------------------------

He is not ruining Spurs at all, that is so hyperbole. The players are not performing, Jose is not performing. It happens, and it is now time for a complete rebuild. The club will continue whatever happens to Jose or the current set of underachieving players.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
You have massive revenue loss, huge debts, and now also loss of revenue from the Europa, and if you miss out on top 4 next year loss of revenue from the CL. Rangers went bankrupt and got dissolved. It can happen to any club. Liverpool were saved from going down 1 minute to 12. So your comment is a bit short sided.

Financially this season, with no crowds, I would think no clubs are making any money. As for the debts, I would imagine the payments have mostly been deferred for 12 months like any other business, so in the grand scheme shouldn't really affect Spurs going forward. No club can ever budget for being in the CL every season, so that shouldn't hurt Spurs financially. I think it is a bit of a nonsense to say a club will go bankrupt if they are not in the CL, when most clubs in the Prem never get a sniff of the competition.

Good article, I agree with most of it aside from the comments regarding how we tactically set up against Arsenal.

I actually don’t mind that really passive tactic and think Jose set up really well against Liverpool in December. The issue is why is he playing lightweight players like Doherty or Bale when you are asking them to defend all game? Had it been Sissoko in for Bale and Aurier for Doherty I think it would have worked.

Regarding finances, as a lot of people on here have alluded to lovestruck Levy made an uncharacteristically shocking contractual decision with Jose. It’s going to cost a lot of money the rebuild.

FYI found this graphic interesting https://public.flourish.studio/visualisation/5611495/

No coincidence, us shooting up in the profit margins coincides with the Poch era.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
And the fact that you didnt spend for 18 months.

#thfc will sack José Mourinho should he fail to secure a top four finish this season. [Daily Mail]

#thfc will sack José Mourinho at the end of the season [Daily Mail]

I have no doubt that Levy has already decided to sack Jose just a matter of when.

I think even if we did manage scraping top 4 and winning the LC I still think Levy will sack him
----------------------------------------------------------------------

To be fair, I reckon Jose will be glad to get the sack, and get away from this bunch of losers. Going to be hard to get a new manager in of any quality. Who would want to touch this job with a bargepole?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I think you're doing the players a disservice here. There is plenty of quality within the squads, it just needs a leader who will play to their strengths and not just focus on the opposition.

There is plenty of room for improvement, but with the facilities Spurs have at the moment, that would be enough to attract a top manager.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
There will be plenty of takers for the job but this squad must be broken up. The lazy overpaid cowards have thrown 2 managers under the bus and will have no hesitation in doing it to a third.

If next season starts will Hugo still in our goal I will spontaneously combust.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Why though? Why would you want to play poorly and win nothing? Doesnt make sense, 99.9% of footballers want to win something, or at least play to their best ability. I dont believe 18 players in the same team cant be bothered to play football.

Bogarde is the 0.1% that rather just get paid

Maybe not bankrupt, but ending up in the lower half of the league and back into obscurity yes.
