Soc I’m not saying I want him off penalties because he missed today. I want Werner on penalties because he’s our striker and very good at them.

Having these discussions after an uninspiring loss is always fun. Thick and fast this season though.

I also think that because it's Lampard, the concerns sink into your gut more. If it was just another chain-smoking Italian, sure it didn't work out and we part ways. This will hurt differently if it ends poorly. For me anyway.

Chillax dude, we lost to the Champions in a game we were much less prepared for than Pool. We will certainly get better than we were tonight.

Agree
Is he better than Jorginho? Check the numbers.
Agree this discussion likely doesn't matter. He's going to ride the bench if not a flight out of here.
Again, I want Werner on penalties because he’s our striker and very good at them. It’s nothing to do with Jorginho’s penalty ability.
I want Werner to score as many goals as possible.
So you don't want our best penalty taker on them?
Trust me you didn't want to get in the way of a Ray Stewart penalty, you'd end up going through the net with the ball. Tony Godden faced one when he was with us. I think he only missed one in his entire career.

As for Oscar's comments on Mount - I am surprised it took this long for Oscar to comment on not rating him, he is the antithesis of the sort of players Oscar likes.
He is not a consistent goalscorer or especially creative, he is tremendously hard working, disciplined off the ball, excellent at pressing, positionally versatile, and can occasionally hit a nice pass - he isn't creative like Grealish, Maddison or Foden.
He is more of a coaches' dream, he suits nearly every system and improves the collective performance of the team through sheer persistence.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Mourinho would absolutely love him. He's like a harder working Oscar (with less flair)
To be honest, I can see why Lamps relies upon him - his defensive workrate in the final third is "priceless". Having someone like Mount to instigate attacks through pressing the opposition into a mistake is vital considering how much we struggle to progress the ball from defence to attack.

I think there's a balance to be had. Of course you want your best penalty taker on penalties, however, if there's only a minimal difference in ability between them and your main striker, I'd go with the striker every time. It's an easy way to keep up the confidence of your primary goalscorer.
Best pen I've ever seen remains Cole's in the CL final
