Beat Pool and Utd

Yeah you'd have hoped that those two wins would have put us in a much better position but we're still biting our nails and probably needing another win at Forest. Sucks but we only have ourselves to blame with other results in the second half of this season.

Yep, pretend we beat Ipswich & our results since the end of February look respectable. The run of 2 wins in 10 during the winter is what's sucker punched us.
That's Marseca's best claim to be a Chelsea manager to date - great start, dreadful mid-season, (mini) recovery at the end - the old school Chelsea way

It's annoying but we had dug our grave already by p 1 5 5 poor performances and lack of attacking against relegation fodder, Newcastle were always gonna be a tough game. I have a feeling he’s been frozen out. Maresca said a few weeks ago there wasn’t space for him on the bench even though we had a bench stacked with defenders.

The key is not going behind to Forest.
I watched last 30 minutes versus West Ham, they sheitehoused so much the ball was barely in play. Literally every time the ball went out a player went down, and so many orchestrated stoppage time subs.

Honestly feel the general quality of football is at an all time low. Come on Vini J and Saka being discussed for Ballon d'or shows how low the current bar is
posted 3 weeks, 1 day ago
Think 'general quality' is actually higher. More teams have good players and tactically teams are well organised. As teams, it's never been more sophisticated which is why it's increasingly boring.
What there is less of, which you are touching on with ballon d'or comment, is individual quality and characters. Less inspired individual moves or individual players prepared to take risks.

Have to agree to disagree mate, don't think the quality is higher at all, you are correct that systems have become more sophisticated, but I believe any of the big hitters from 10-15 years ago (Us, Real, Barca Bayern etc.) walk the Prem or Champions League.
posted 3 weeks, 1 day ago
What NPE said. This is the result of the Premier League's middle tier being the strongest it's ever been, which is most of the league so technically the quality has risen.
The problem with this from an entertainment standpoint is the spectacle comes from the top & bottom, and that's feeling the effects. The top can't produce memorable teams in this environment, and the bottom can't compete so there's no possibilities for fresh teams to stay in the league.
posted 3 weeks, 1 day ago
The bottom being too weak to survive is particuplarly concerning cos Leicester, Ipswich & Southampton were three of the Championship's best promoted sides in years.
That gap has hit a troubling level.
posted 3 weeks, 1 day ago
Ok yeh you guys are right maybe on the mid to lower getting more quality, but imo the top quality has dropped considerably
posted 3 weeks, 1 day ago
I’d have to agree with NPE. The money flowing into the PL means that nowadays all teams have the ability to buy great players, so the difference between the best teams and the middle tier teams is no longer so pronounced. Middle to lower division teams frequently take points off top teams - much more so than in the old days.
