The reference point is I’m not sure he had a better season than George for example.
posted 3 days, 17 hours ago
I think George is very raw and his current level is the Championship. Kind of surprised he's getting the attention he does. Literally he scored a nice goal against Fulham and a decent pass in a pre season friendly is all I can say about him. He was maddeningly wasteful in Conference League games.
Garnacho has problems but he also has a very high 'ceiling' in terms of qiality.

I think the club actually has a pretty clear idea of what it wants, and it's fine if Simons doesn't fit that.
Also people should stop retrospectively dismissing Mount's achievements at Chelsea just because he left and injuries have derailed his career. His stats show he was once very effective in the final third - if we signed anyone at that level again I'd be thrilled.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Who here is dismissing Mount's achievements? I haven't seen anyone do that tbf.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Someone earlier said they wouldn't want a new Mason Mount. I would.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
It all depends which Mount though. He did great with us for the most part and had a really bright start to his career. And I'm glad he was here while he was. Since then he fell off a cliff somewhat. So if we're talking Man Utd Mount then I wouldn't be that interested either tbf.

So you’re not wrong but my point is in terms of what they offer to the team today, based on last season they’re at a similar level.
And at the moment short term improvements to the side are more of interest to me than how good they can be in 2 years.

Watched the Fulham game. He has lots of 'energy' but he has zero confidence on the ball. Every pass is sideways and he's always much too deep. Kind of a parody of his critics who used to say all he's good at is pressing.
When, while not as gifted as say Grealish, he used to be very effective in final third with key passes and goals.

--------------------------------------------------------
Meh, we've seen better examples of all the things he could do since he left. Enzo's better at the ghost run, Gallagher was a better presser (his best quality), and Palmer's technically better.
The homegrown lad effect definitely helped him. If he was a buy people opinion's of him at the time would've been more mixed.

Not really, statistically he was among the most effective AMs in Europe for three years and was vital in our Champions League win. There's a reason top coaches love him. Frankly our current team is still a good level below Tuchel's Chelsea.
But anyway who cares now, he's cooked.

Also you've just described a Swiss-army style player who could do the attributes of three key players for us nearly as well as they could. So, I'd love a player like that in our squad now.
If Fermin Lopez is a possibility and he is a Mount regen I'd be delighted.
