Bebe - does anyone seriously rate him ?

Well I see your point, kind of.

But I don't agree because bebe won't be making the 25 man squad list. Not a chance.

He'll be on loan, sold or playing reserve football next season.
-----------------

neither will any of the other players i listed, but if we are going to sell him or loan him, we need to stick him in the shop window.

Do you like anything about United? Sometimes you come across like a Liverpool fan.

The ultimate insult.

Bit harsh, he's never said Bebe has potential to be the next Drogba like some of them have about Bebe Carroll.

..............................

I have never seen anyone say that, but we do have our fair share of idiots among our fan base, so it is possible.

And we do have a lot of people on this site that pretend to be United fans as well, just to get a WUM in.

Not saying SE-85 is one of these, by the way.

IMO, Bebe will be world class at 26

My Ian Wright example was for people who were comparing his background to Bebe's.
Ian Wright was signed by Crystal Palace in 1985 when they were in the old division 2. He stayed there for 6 years before moving to Arsenal. I'm not saying you had this opinion but a lot of people thought Ian Wright went from non league straight to the top division and Arsenal.

The £7 million fee (while not Bebe's fault) was always going to be too much for the lad to have to deal with.

If me and you disagree on this i'm sure we'll agree on something else down the line!

I come across as a Liverpool fan because I think Bebe is pants?

Not seen many Bebe shirts on the terraces mate. i think I might be in the majority on this one.

I love lots of thing about United; The manager, most of the players, the ground, the atmosphere of the big matches, the history, the glamour, and many more things too.

I'm just not one of those sheep who believes everything is rosy all the time. One of those United fans who would turn up at OT just to see Fergie doing his washing up.

I have to laugh at people wanting investigations into the Bebe deal. Not because they are right/wrong but because of the naivety.

Do you think deals like the sheva deal at CFC or some of the other big money deals that occur in world football are legit?

There was a report written, then quickly glossed over, which showed football to be the perfect front for money laundering on a huge scale

People like RA didnt get into the game simply for the 'love of the game'.
_______________________

Sorry, but can you explain what you mean here? I don't think anyone's saying there hasnt been dodgy deals in football before, some are just saying that this one could do with a review by the club, so that the club can make sure they don't repeat any mistakes that 'might' have been made, so I don't see what's naive?

Are you saying that of course the Bebe deal wasn't legit and United were part of it or knew it wasn't legit, or are you saying that of course the Bebe deal wasn't legit, and even if United weren't involved they should just accept it wasn't legit, not look to learn from it and avoid a similar scenario in the future, or are you saying it may or may not have been legit, and United may or may not have been involved, but whatever the scenario the club shouldn't look to review their part in it and make sure the same doesnt happen again, because this stuff always happens and they know this?? or.... i'm going to stop guessing now but as you can see i'm just not sure what you are saying is naive

Sarcasm is rude, but to be fair Bebe will have a decent future in football. Maybe not at United but somewhere back in his hometown maybe.

posted on 16/7/12

He hasn`t done anything wrong apart from come with a story and arguably an inflated price tag.

His contributions for the reserves and for the first team in the cup was decent.

How old was ribery when he finally "took the world by storm"????

Give him chance.

to be honest, id rather Bebe given the chance as 4th striker next season instead of macheda.
i think macheda has had enough chances to show what he can do (im not saying he's done) but Bebe should be given a few games in his favoured position.

there will be certain games where we will be hammering someone, so that would be a good opertunity to see him play in his favoured position before anyone writes him off.

True VC, but I don't think anyone in our fanbase is that deluded.

I don't think you sounded like a Liverpool fan. On the other hand, I don't think a single person on this board has sounded like they are watching Bebe through rose-tinted glasses. Most of us who have defended him have acknowledged that what we've seen so far hasn't been that encouraging - we've just urged giving him the benefit of the doubt. You have caricatured these arguments several times in this thread as those of 'sheep' while ignoring (as far as I can see) the posts that have pointed out that this view is inaccurate as well as failing to engage with posts that discuss the Bebe situation in a less black and white manner.

Please try and understand what the word 'sometimes' (it was in my text) means.

Try to not slate our players constantly, it will help.

Bebe is easy meat for the ABU`s because of the fee and because of his background.

Can anyone honestly say they`ve seen enough of him to label him a disaster?

He`s work in progress.

100% agree my friend, I said earlier he could be a decent squad player for us if he develops well. I've not given up on him yet, I'm hoping his next loan spell would turn out the positive way like Welbeck.

How can we give him the benefit of the doubt and not at the detriment to the first team?

Our £30m striker who has played over 70 times for Bulgaria can hardly get a kick. What chance has bebe got?

I am entitled to my opinion as is everyone else. From what I have seen, he doesn't look good enough for the PL never mind United.

City, Barca, Madrid and Bayern wouldn't have him anywhere near their squad. So why should we entertain the idea?

Like I said....I think the transfer stinks to high heaven and was probably about something else we will never find out about. Jorge Mendes making 3m euros on a completely unknown player who wasn't his client 3 weeks previous and also who available on a free.

He does tend to misrepresent what other posters actually say. As you have stated, none of us are saying that Bebe is going to be amazing or will definitely make it - just that he shouldn't be written off just yet. But that makes us sheep?

posted on 16/7/12

Giving him the benefit of the doubt doesn't mean starting him every game does it? He can be given a chance without it being detrimental to the team.

Look at Fletcher. Everyone hated him when he firs came into the fold, but he was rightly given more time and eventually went on the establish himself as a good player and very valuable member of the squad.

Not saying the exact same thing will happen to Bebe, but given that he has very limited opportunities, we are in no position to say he won't.

I could understand all the chastising if people actually knew just how good he was. Fact is, we don't.

berbatov is different though mate, i think 99% of the fans feel he has been mistreated and cant understand why Fergie didnt give him any game time last season.

i know i certainly do.

Not sure how accurate it is, but I am sure that SAF said the deal for Bebe was pushed through quickly due to interest from Madrid. Or did I dream that?

the word 'hated' is the problem. Utd fans love to hate on a utd player
