Duncan, you've got it wrong, we need 25 world class players and world class reserves.

How you can accomodate them all or play them all is irrelevant. We need them to make us feel good about our club.

That's what I hear from a lot of the 'fans' on here.

'I have no problem with United signing relatively unknown players. In fact some of best signings have been done this way. Vidic being a recent example.

But don't go comparing Ole and the others to Bebe and Manucho.'

------------------------------------

I get it, this is actually an exact science.

Come to think of it, why does our club not have a policy of just buying players who will make it? Who thought up this stupid policy of buying some players who will make it and some who won't! I need answers!

We should be aiming a lot higher than Manucho, Bebe, Diouf and Dong. That was my point.

No idea why we continue to waste time and money on these players.

Stop wumming.

Hate the Barca/Madrid comparisons. All three clubs are ran in completely different ways. Madrid don't mind having a £56 million player on the bench. United cannot even justify a £56 million pound player in our first team.

It's amazing people are slating someone who has had less than a handful of games at utd playing in an unfamiliar position.

I would like to see him played as a striker and judge him then.

I wonder how effective hernandez would be as a winger?

I personally believe bebe has more to his game than macheda, who has been through professional coaching, can't trap a ball, can't pass, has a horrible first touch, turns like a tanker and has no pace.

However people are willing to give him a chance but not bebe.

As for the comments about hypocrisy, I slate other teams players simply to show how stupid our fans sound when they slate ours.

What I find amusing is that utd fans are first in line to slate our players and are also first in line to defend players from other teams.

What is wrong with some of you?

As for the OP, you say you haven't watched him play a lot of games but are slating him. Will file you under the easily led, jump to conclusions without evidence category

Madrid are financed by a bank and Barca had to borrow money from the bank to pay its players wages.

They also negotiate their own tv deals whilst ripping everyone else in their leagues off.

What about players like Ole, Schmeichel and Jonhson? I suppose you would have thought the same about them at the time?

------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Not really.

I have no problem with United signing relatively unknown players. In fact some of best signings have been done this way. Vidic being a recent example.

But don't go comparing Ole and the others to Bebe and Manucho.
-----------------------------------

Are your being serious? We cant predict which players will and wont make it. We take a chance and some pay off, some don't. Obviously if you are buying someone for larger fees then you expect there to be a great chance that they will work out, but there are no guarantees.

I have tried to be as polite to you as I can, but the way you think and debate is absolutely ridiculous. I can't honestly believe that you are serious - you must be wum.

posted on 16/7/12

All this is pure nonsense anyway.

People think he's been poor but might improve given time. People think he's poor full stop. It doesn't really matter.

Bebe won't be registered in the 25 man squad. You can almost guarantee it. He'll playing in the reserves all season.

Now you know why I just don't bother debating with some of these clowns.

What makes my opinion any less valid than any of yours?

I think he's a poor player with no potential and shouldn't be at the club.

What makes you right and me wrong?

I'm starting to think the OP is a wum as well and very clueless, he starts agreeing with people that counter his points in his article.

'What makes you right and me wrong?'

------------------------------------

It's not a question of who is right / wrong. It's just that some people present consistent opinions and try to justify them with logical argumentation, while others make categorical statements without much supporting evidence and end up contradicting themselves.

posted on 16/7/12

What you failing to understand is that nobody is saying Bebe is going to be a world beater.

Whether he makes it or not I have no idea, and nether do you, and that is what I'm getting at. Not even Alex Ferguson and the Man United coaching staff know wether he will make it (or most other signings for that matter) and makes your post stink of arrogance on the basis that you think you have a better insight than people who actually know the players strengths and weaknesses.

No-one is saying you dont have the right to voice your opinion.

It is idiotic statements about not comparing the likes of Manucho and Diouf to the likes of Ole and Schmeichel. The point is, all of those players were low value risks that we took. If you look at Ole and Diouf, both had scored quite a few goals in the Norwegian league and we took a punt on them. One of them worked out, the other didnt. Yet you think that we cant compare them as players when the deals that brought them to United are completely comparable. It is just plain stupid.

By the way, Diouf started off well after his move to Hannover, scoring 6 goals in 10 for them. Rubbish player though who is no better than League 2 standard.

Sir Alex has already said that Bebe is going out on loan again next season. I'll stand by my prediction that he doesn't have a future at United but I hope that whoever signs him on loan gets the best of him. He was suspended at Besiktas for breaking a curfew so I hope that he doesn't blow his chance for reasons other than to do with football. How ironic would that be? After all of us debating his football abilities (or lack thereof) his future could be decided by a poor attitude.

Do you have a link for that? Not saying it isn't true by the way, just havent seen it.

DTKF - exactly.

Half of my posts recently have been challenging people who claim to be certain about something that they simply can't know. We really should try to be aware of the limits of our knowledge: a) we aren't football industry professionals with amazing judgement, and b) we don't have the incredibly detailed dossiers-worth of information about players that the club's management have through their network of dedicated professionals and daily contact with players in training. I'm always suspicious of opinions that claim things are 'obvious'.

I take back what I said about direct quotes from Sir Alex (my mistake) but this is one of many articles that say he'll go out on loan again.

Meh, ive already read them. He could well go on loan, but for now that is just the media jumping on the flop bandwagon.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------

To be fair I never said anybody was league two standard. The only time I used League two was to describe the level of reserves football.

Diouf was a bench warmer for a struggling blackburn side too.

I think bebe is probably championship standard at best. He'd struggle to get in most sides in that division.

Agreed RR.

God knows how many players over the years we've had come, or come through the youth, and had slow starts and people had said they'll never make it.

Pretty sure some people said the same of Ronaldo when he first came.

VC

Yeah, at the time of saying he'd go on loan I thought Sir Alex had said it himself but after closer perusal of the websites I couldn't find a direct quote so am backtracking on my '100%' claim he'll be going out on loan.

Darren

I take what you say but the Ronaldo comparison is wrong. Not only did he come from the top flight of a fairly decent league (that season Porto won the Champions League) but on his debut he was brilliant and everyone knew he'd be excellent.

Good man funrob.

I never really pay any attention to anything unless it is a direct quote from someone conected to the club and by that I don't mean the kit man.
