The parents of a man who killed himself last year have filed a lawsuit against trading app Robinhood over his death.

The lawsuit, first reported by CBS News, said 20-year-old Alex Kearns mistakenly believed he owed $730,000 (£530,000) when he took his own life.

Dan and Dorothy Kearns say their son was unable to get help or support from customer services before he died.

Robinhood said in a statement to the BBC they were "devastated" by Alex's death and had made improvements.

The app, which allows anyone to buy and trade stocks, says on its website that it is "on a mission to democratise finance" and is currently running an advertising campaign under the slogan of "We are all investors".

It recently made headlines for limiting sales of some shares to users after US retailer GameStop saw its stock surge.

Kissinger remains a controversial and polarizing figure in U.S. politics, both condemned as an alleged war criminal by many journalists, political activists, and human rights lawyers, and venerated as a highly effective U.S. Secretary of State by many prominent international relations scholars. With the death of centenarian George Shultz in February 2021, Kissinger is the oldest living former U.S. Cabinet member and the last surviving member of Nixon's Cabinet.

British number one Johanna Konta says she is in "shock" after an abdominal injury forced her to retire from her Australian Open first-round match.

The 13th seed had won the first set 6-4 and left the court for treatment before falling 2-0 behind in the second and conceding to Slovenia's Kaja Juvan.

"I pulled my ab and that made it difficult for me to serve," Konta said.

Meanwhile, Cameron Norrie produced an impressive performance to win an all-British encounter against Dan Evans.

Evans, the 30th seed, struggled physically in a 6-4 4-6 6-4 7-5 defeat as Norrie reached the second round at Melbourne Park for the first time.

Only Heather Watson is left in the women's singles after 20-year-old Francesca Jones lost on her Grand Slam main-draw debut.

After making a promising start against American opponent Shelby Rogers, Jones lost 6-4 6-1 to a player ranked almost 200 places higher.

James Anderson and Jack Leach bowled England to a famous 227-run victory against India on the final day of the first Test in Chennai.

Anderson inspired England with 3-17 and Jack Leach took 4-76 as England inflicted just a second home defeat on their hosts in eight years.

India made a decent start in their pursuit of a world record 420, before Anderson swung the game in devastating fashion when introduced.

He bowled Shubman Gill and Ajinkya Rahane in an incredible over of reverse swing and had the dangerous Rishabh Pant caught soon after.

Virat Kohli held England up in the afternoon session with 72 but he was bowled by one that scuttled low from Ben Stokes.

Leach claimed the key wicket of Cheteshwar Pujara at the start of the day and saw off Ravichandran Ashwin, who put on 54 with Kohli.

Jofra Archer sealed the win by having Jasprit Bumrah caught behind 35 minutes before tea.

A TV reporter saved Burnley from a costly FA Cup mistake after they named a suspended player in their line-up to face Bournemouth.

Left-back Erik Pieters was picked for the match at Turf Moor - only for the reporter to point out he was banned after being booked against MK Dons and Burnley.

"Due to an administrative error, Erik Pieters no longer plays tonight," Burnley said.

Anthony Glennon was drafted in instead.

Sheffield Wednesday moved out of the Championship drop zone with victory over bottom side Wycombe Wanderers, who remain in deep relegation trouble.

Jordan Rhodes gave the hosts a first-half lead at a snowy Hillsborough with a fine cushioned header from Kadeem Harris' dinked cross.

Adebayo Akinfenwa, handed the captain's armband on his first start for Wycombe since 26 December, spurned their best chance of the game before the break when he headed straight at Keiren Westwood.

The Owls continued to create the better opportunities in the second half but their goal to make it 2-0 had a huge slice of fortune about it.

Harris' blocked shot fell to Adam Reach, whose 25-yard strike took a huge deflection off Anthony Stewart and wrongfooted Wycombe goalkeeper Ryan Allsop.

Heather Watson was knocked out of the Australian Open by 21st seed Anett Kontaveit as the British challenge in the women's singles came to an end.

It was a gutsy display by the 28-year-old Briton, who battled from 3-0 and 4-1 down and 5-2 down in the tie-break to take the opening set.

The Estonian fought back to take the second set before breaking twice in the decider en route to a 6-7 (5-7) 6-4 6-2 victory for a place in round three.

She will now face USA's Shelby Rogers.

The 2001 FIFA Confederations Cup was the fifth FIFA Confederations Cup and the third to be organised by FIFA. It was also the first in which the original hosts, Saudi Arabia, did not participate (they were the nation who founded the tournament, previously known as the King Fahd Cup). The tournament was played from 30 May to 10 June 2001, and co-hosted by South Korea and Japan, who were also hosts for the 2002 FIFA World Cup finals. It was won by France, beating hosts Japan 1–0, with a goal from Patrick Vieira.

By winning the tournament, France became the second team to simultaneously be World Cup champions, continental champions and Confederations Cup winners, after Brazil in 1997.

Royal Mail is to keep on 10,000 of the 33,000 temporary workers it took on to help it through the Christmas period.

The parcel service said it had its busiest-ever three months between October and December last year, delivering 496 million parcels.

"Our busiest day during the quarter saw 32% more parcels delivered than our busiest day during the first national lockdown in 2020," it said.

But it apologised for delivery delays over Christmas and the New Year.

"Given these record volumes, we recognise that at times our service during the period was not always as we would have wished," said Royal Mail chairman Keith Williams.

"But thanks to the efforts of our team, the retention of around 10,000 of the 33,000 flexible workers from the Christmas peak, and the introduction of new processes, we have been making encouraging progress."

The company delivered almost 12 million parcels on its busiest day of the year.

Bruce Springsteen was arrested in New Jersey three months ago and charged with driving while intoxicated and reckless driving, officials have said.

The rock veteran was also cited for consuming alcohol in a closed area of a national park on the same day, 14 November.

He is due to appear in court "in the next few weeks", TMZ reported.

A National Park Service spokeswoman said Springsteen, 71, was "cooperative throughout the process".

The Gateway National Recreation Area is a park that connects Sandy Hook, a New Jersey strip of beach just south of New York City, with part of the oceanfront section of New York's Staten Island and Jamaica Bay.

Springsteen, often called "The Boss", has had a career spanning more than five decades, with many of his songs describing his home state of New Jersey.

Benjamin Pavard scored the only goal as Bayern Munich beat Tigres to win the Fifa Club World Cup final in Qatar, their sixth trophy in nine months.

Bayern have won the Uefa Super Cup, German Super Cup and are now world champions, to complete a clean sweep of trophies after last season's Treble.

Pavard's goal was initially ruled out for a Robert Lewandowski offside but given after VAR consultation.

Joshua Kimmich had earlier had a goal disallowed by the VAR.

This is the eighth year in a row that a European club has won the Fifa Club World Cup, including Liverpool last season.

The musician's career spanned more than five decades. His last album was released in 2020.

Corea is the fourth most nominated artist in the Grammy awards' history with 65 nominations, winning 23 times.

He died on 9 February from a rare form of cancer that was only recently discovered.

"Through his body of work and the decades spent touring the world, he touched and inspired the lives of millions," the statement said.
