most of them do know that but they don't have a problem with it.

I doubt that, seeing as their government controls the internet and tv media(for the privileged ones with it), find it hard to believe they would show stuff from western countries.
most of them do know that but they don't have a problem with it. basically, most north koreans are like hardcore fundamentalist christians except they have been raised to love the leaders instead of jesus. you can pay to have people smuggled out of north korea if you are in china but most of them want to go back because they don't want to betray their leader.
-------------
how is this any different to a middle eastern country?
this kind of stuff is common place around the world (quite sadly), only north korea getting a bad rap currently from the usa.
regarding your book you mentioned, im sure it would be a fascinating read. i dont mean to defend north korea, but the USA is fast becoming a bigger threat with their world domination plot than these tiny countries with insignifcant dictators.
usa seems to want to have a presence in every country or region. they are not the fooking world police ffs

North Koreans arent all that different from religious people. They don't really see their leader as a tyrant, and instead choose to worship him unconditionally. Christopher Hitchens made a brilliant comment about it once.
Team America was puppet propaganda.
" He also told the crowd that heaven would be comparable to North Korea, as they both embody a totalitarianism of eternal gratitude. Hitchens pointed to the "horrific pointlessness and misery" of having to thank a leader for everything when the leader was never asked for in the first place — which he said is intrinsic to both the concept of heaven and in North Korea. "At least you can fecking die and get out of North Korea," Hitchens added
And they probably say they love their country for several reasons;
a) They're too scared to say they don't
b) All the media and education probably revolves around how great and kind their leaders are.
c) They have little to no knowledge about what civilized countries are like.

also i am a bit miffed at how the usa, and the west generally push democracy to smaller countries.
we have corrupt politicians, a crumbling economy, a vast divide between the rich and the poor and nearly 2 million people unemployed. not to mention the foreign spongers.
in the words of homer simpson, "democracy doesn't work", but then again nor does anything!
They are under a new regime and even if Dictator JR wants to set an example the men around him are not stupid and understand the implications of actually following through with any of the threats.
======
The head of state isn't the one that's truly in control their. The constant shows of strength and macho bravado is done directly to appease the military leaders who wield the most influence.
Allegedly, Kim-Il Sung told Kim Jong-Il to forget the people and the economy and please the generals of the army. I don't doubt a similar message would have made it's way down to the new dictator.

i am not sure how they know it but every time i see somebody being interviewed who is from north korea they seem to realise that the standard of living in their country isn't great
=======
Probably cause they're all dying from malnourishment.
They blame the west because they're likely taught that, if you drum ideology into young children they will grow up believing it as fact.

or maybe the some just love the country?
why has their not been an uprising like in egypt for example if people are really that unhappy?
again, theres very little i believe that i read in the media. north korea is no worse than other countries out there but the fact they want nukes, or have them is whats key here. usa wont be able to bully north korea anymore.
ever wondered why pakistan has never been targetted by usa despite harbouring al quaeda terrorists, and being proven to actively hide and protect them? nukes..
do NK have nukes? from what i understand they could pretty much wipe out south korea if they did.
I would much rather USA being the only super power in the world than a country like North Korea, that's for sure.
Super Keith that is pretty much what i said.

I know, I realised I'd mis-read it after I had pressed send.

The Yanks are right on this one. They may have an agenda as they always seem to have one but on this one they are right.
