Didnt we already know rooney never handed in an official tranfer request??
I thought it was when moyes said he needs rooney as a back up to RVP that it started all this media hype again
I'd get rid of him regardless he seems to be getting slowe/less skillful every season
"never handed in an official transfer request"
I've never thought he had, he must have said something to SAF though in training or in his office.

Not quite, Sir Alex said he asked for a move away from the club after the Villa game last season.
I don't think the big Dane means an official request like the last time in 2010, he meant the Sir Alex thing where he apparently asked to be sold.
“If you stick him up front you will get 25 or 30 goals. If you play him in midfield you will get someone as close as you can get to replace Paul Scholes."
Arab, I think Rooney's said something to be honest, but he's hiding behind this 'I never did it officially' tag line to save face
Schmeichel talking nonsense as was Robbo a few days ago.
Pride I think they both had an argument and a misinterpretation was made, I don't know we're all just speculating. If Rooney really wanted the move he'd have gone public in my opinion.
Rooney will solve our midfield problems.
Rooney and Jones.
If it had no truth to it whatsoever, Rooney's camp would have come straight out with an official denial. They didn't though
This is the thing that is pîssing everyone off. He hasn't gone public about ANY of it.
Yeah bang on, there's two sides to the argument. I do wish he just spoke about it, but in a way I'm happy he hasn't backstabbed the club like Suarez did with Liverpool.
Dazza, exactly. Which pretty much shows he must have said something. I just don't think it was in writing, hence this "I never officially asked to leave' stance.
"I'm happy he hasn't backstabbed the club "
He's definitely been more dignified with it, in the public eye anyway.
Don't get me wrong, I want him to stay, but I do think he must have thrown the toys out the pram last season
I haven't read anything that refutes what seems to me the most likely reality:
Rooney went to Fergie for a moan - demanding assurances he'd be starting the big games in a desired role, and saying he'd leave if he didn't have that assurance. Fergie took a hard line on that, as he believes no one should be guaranteed anything but has to earn his place in the team. Possibly this lead to an exchange in which Rooney said he'd leave in that case. Either way, Rooney expressed an opinion that fell short of an official transfer request but probably did indicate a wish to leave.
As for the rest of Schmeichel's quote, he doesn't say Rooney told him he wants to stay at United. He merely interprets Rooney's silence in an optimistic way: he hasn't come out publicly expressing a desire to leave, but he hasn't told anyone he doesn't. Meanwhile, Moyes has been plagued all summer by journalists' questions about Rooney wanting out and reports that 'people close to Rooney' say he is desperate to move to Chelsea. If Rooney really just wanted to stay at United, wouldn't he break his silence and nip this in the bud?
'Never handed in a transfer request' is a cowardly statement.
"interprets Rooney's silence in an optimistic way"
Yeah agree with that
I hope Rooney stays, I'm pretty confident he'll show what a top SS he is this season.
Rooney not saying a word has fuelled the speculation without proving anything, maybe he just likes the attention.
It would be better if he could gain attention through actually playing well, which he is more than capable of.

I have the feeling Fergie has played Wazza for a bit of a fool here, did the right thing bringing this out when he did before the Moyes switch.
He's obviously said something, about wanting to leave or being unhappy without the 'transfer request'.
He looked lot leaner versus Swansea (although still off the pace), so I'm hoping be can recapture some form of old.
As for him replacing Paul Scholes, that's an insult to Scholesy, Wazza will never be as good as Scholes in midfield.
Think the Scholes thing is just a typical overrating of a British player really
Wayne's got a good range of passing, but he'll never been Scholes in midfield
Yeah, there was more to Paul Scholes than a ball out to Antonio Valencia.
As for not believing big Pete, I don't think anyone that made such a glorious advert for Danepak would have a reason to lie.
"glorious advert for Danepak"
I don't think he's lied about anything, but he also hasn't really said anything concrete

Shame he can't weight a decent pass to a player 5 yards away from him.
