Shaws was a foul, and a yellow, won the ball but you can’t follow through like that these days. No idea how the ref only gave a yellow to Burnley for bringing Cavani down though when it happened, obviously didn’t matter in the end.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
The second defender was there it wasn't a guaranteed goal opportunity
----------------------------------------------------------------------
The second defender was miles behind. Wouldn't have stopped Cavani shooting.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Irrelevant due to Shaw's studs up foul 👍
----------------------------------------------------------------------
No, we are saying the refs decision not to send him off originally was a pretty bad call. Of course it would have been overturned, but it was a poor call to give a yellow.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
As I said before the second defender in close attendance just swayed his decision

Much like Robertson vs Spurs, Shaw kicks the ball and as his leg comes up on the follow through, it catches the player.
Pretty standard collision and not a foul, but as soon as you watch slow motion it looks intentional and therefore a foul.
A major problem with VAR.
Not expecting much reasoned thinking on here though - wonder how many Liverpool fans argued Robertson’s case and now call for a Shaw red?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Shaw's looked bad in real time and the Burnley players all reacted.
Robertson's was more of a red imo because he made more contact.
Shaw yellow, Robertson red for me, but shaw couldn't have had any complaints if he got red.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I don’t think people know what constitutes a red card anymore.
Kicking a ball and catching people with your follow through is not a red card.
It just isn’t.

I haven’t seen this incident but getting the ball is irrelevant if the player has used excessive force which could inflict injury on the player.
Generally if you’re late to a tackle having lunged in you may get a touch on the ball on the way down into someone shin, it appeared full speed Shaw gets to the ball while his foot is still in an upward (kicking motion) trajectory in which case he was never not going to come into contact with the player too. Looked a lot worse slowed down. No way a red imo.
