Education is what modern Islam is actually about can only help - the ignorance in this nation often astounds me.

Introducing children to religion is akin to child abuse.

They are not mature enough to make their own mind up on the subject and instead are indoctrinated from an extremely young age to believe in fairies.

Religion should be subject to a planet wide BAN

The belief in God - as an ultimate creator but no more - is no less logical (and perhaps more logical) than the belief that the Universe sprang randomly out of nothing. Religion on the other hand is the biggest pile of waank to ever be pursued.

This. Kids shouldn't be brought up with one religious belief or another, or influenced to believe something just because you think they should. The problem is, it's virtually impossible to have someone completely impartial teaching it.

Certainly they should be allowed a view of each of the major religions, when they're old enough to form a more complete opinion.

Educating children on religion doesn't mean it's indoctrinating them.

Contrary to popular belief, children are actually capable of deciding whether the belief in god is a logical one if they're allowed to make that decision themselves.

Relgion should be 18+ like pörn and alcohol

Teaching about Islam is only one of many possibilities for ONE topic during KS2 and KS3.

It's not even been decided yet.

IMHO every child should be taught about all religions, seeing as they exist. Taught that no one religion is better than the others and that atheists are no better than believers and vice versa.

This. education about differing beliefs cuts down on a massive amount of cultural ignorance. It winds me up a lot when you see some twát spouting crap about one religion or another (mostly Muslims) without knowing a thing about it.

I don't agree with religion at all, but I understand it and will defend people's right to believe whatever they want to believe.

I believe in God and I don't need to prove to anyone that he exists. If you don't believe, then fair enough. Everyone is entitled to his or her opinion.
