It would be bad for the subject to not be taught because it deprives people a reasonably straightforward GCSE. There was actually very little to learn for it (we only had one lesson per week).

all the philosophies thus far hasnt come anywhere near the understanding of nature when compared to science. and what are inspirations? football, messi, ronaldo

I could tell with certainty that a man who hasn't discovered the truth about existence and do live by it would be satisfied.

He might attempt to drown the natural longing for it, within him, by giving himself fully to entertainment and to achievement, but in the final analysis he finds himself empty.
He comes to see that those things are merely rambow: water shining in the air.

And as I say it sets you up nicely for Philosophy. PPE is quite a common university course to take.

Not everyone needs spiritual or intellectual fulfilment to find happiness.

I am not anti evolution but if Darwin knew what we now know today about the cell, i bet he would have had a second thought.
Up till this moment, I am still waiting for a scientific proof that shows how the cell of a snake could evolve to become a lizard. Send me a link if you have found one and i don't mean just theories.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
you are just ignorant. and snakes evolved from lizards not the other way. Basic cell structure is not that different between snakes and lizards, when species evolve all the cells in their body doesnt change. only the ones need to adapt to the enviromet change
------------------------------------------------------------------
You've just stated that. Where is the proof?
Some scientists have been studying this phenomena for the past 50 years and still with no conclusive evidence. If you have one, post the link.

You would disregard it anyway

If you want evidence, there was a boa in some country that still has parts of the limbs that they had when they were lizards. look it up, still cant believe I have to explain that evolution is real in 2013

Off to bed but I've enjoyed this thread and learnt a lot.

Religion is fine and I'm happy that others find happiness believing there's 'an Almighty' regardless of his name if that's what they choose to do.

God created the Earth in 6 days. Why did it take so long for him to create man?

Ciao.

The thing that makes anyone a Christian is simply by believing in Christ. Church attendance has never been a prerequisite but a mere social gathering of like minded people who are keen to learn more about their faith.

Where are the missing links?

If evolution really happened from scratch from one species to another we would have trillions, even beyond number, of life forms; and we would have been seeing the fossils morrow frequently than we are swing them today.
Why do I say so?

Evolution is a means for adaptation to environmental strains. If the strains occur small, and slowly then the life form can afford to adjust to it, and evolve.

If that strain or environmental change is huge and occurs rapidly there is not sufficient time for the life form to adjust and it must cease to exist.

Now if evolution from the primitive soup gave rise to all the life forms we know today, in all their numerous variety, it must have given rise to trillions of life forms that differ in things ranging from undetectable to small.

This means that the life forms that would have lived on earth would be unimaginably numerous and fossils will be everywhere.

But as it stands we can't find many missing links and we don't have fossils everywhere.

Hmmmm

There's as much bad as good done in the name of one god or another, and don't even start me on priests, they've got away with all sorts for years and they're all very close to god are they not?

You don't have to explain evolution. I have done extensive reading on it myself. And what I am simply saying is that there still is a whole lot of research going on at the moment about it. Hence, it is not conclusive.
And btw, the theory of evolution does not dispel the existence of a God.

I am off too. Still think there is no god and that's it's all fairytale stuff.
Also think religion is damaging.
Screen argues very articulately the case of a non-believer.
