United shares up 10% for the day

Shares are just bouncing back after significant losses in value.

Either that or the new sponsorship deal with Aldi is about to be announced.

It would be strange and not ideal......but if they made us a stupid offer like the rumoured £500m, I'd bite their hands off personally.

HALF A BILLION quid for essentially nothing.

And like Manutd1982 said......it would ALWAYS be OT to us anyway.

Nike Arena @ Old Trafford would be a good compromise too.

The money side of the game just depresses me so much.

Official noodle partners.

20 years ago you'd have hated the idea of Yankie owners, but hey presto.....look whats happend.

Football is changing and evolving. The stadium name is the next step.

If the Glazers even think of changing the name of the stadium I'd hunt them down in Florida and rid them from this universe

Yeah I know what you mean, Rob.

Saying that, Nike a clever and could potentially use this sponsorship - plus the kit sponsor - to try and negotiate transfers for existing or potential stars to United.

I have no doubt in my mind that they had a word in Neymar and Barca's ears about making that transfer happen.

Who cares if it has its name changed, every single fan would still call it Old Trafford. Never really get why the thought angers people so much, it's not as if you're gonna be arrested for calling it wrong.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Based on the media agreements the pundits and commentators would have to call it by its official name, as well as adverts and tickets. Just another way to plaster the Nike brand everywhere.

Plus, my gut reaction is that it's wrong, wrong, wrong.

Sold Trafford.

Hope it is just a rumour.

Why?

I'm no Glazer fan but our fans have to realise what football is now. It's a business as much as we like to believe it's just a sport, it's not anymore.

If they called it the Nike Arena @ Old Trafford.......I could live with it personally. As long as they paid handsomely for it and the money didn't just go to the Glazer retirement fund.

Where does it stop though, SE85?

But it would. What about the Glazers time at United makes you think it will be good times for the fans?

posted on 16/4/14

I wouldnt mind the stadium being renamed if it benefitted the club. We'd all still refer to it as OT anyway.

Before long you will have teams named after corporations.

Corporations picking who plays and who doesn't.

Honestly, it wouldn't surprise me.

You mean like Red Bull Salzburg? Yea I can see that happening one day..

Yeah like the rumour about Microsoft sponsoring the Bernabeu.

posted on 16/4/14

In the CL it would still be called Old Trafford, though.

Moyes is scouting tonight at the O Classico, but it doesn't mean anything if he's being sacked off. He was attending Everton youth games when he was appointed United manager, one thing you can say about him is he's committed.

It doesn't. And that's the point.

That's where football has gone and is continuing to go?

Do you want to watch Utd competing for honors? Of course you do.

So we have to give ourselves the best possible chance. Especially now our genius ex manager is no longer in charge.

Barca never had a shirt sponsor till 2 seasons ago but they have realised they were putting themselves at a massive disadvantage.

You still think he might be on his way out, RVP's?

posted on 16/4/14

On the one hand I loathe city and Arsenal selling their souls to Emirates and Etihad. On the other we're sponsored by Turkish airlines and the only beer you can get in the ground is Singah. It's all wrong.

He wasn't.

There's a vacant manager's post at Porto after the season ends.

Robb

I wasn't aware that us United fans had bad times since the Glazers have been in charge.

Pretty sure it has been one of the most successful periods in our history.

City and Arsenal are different, though, as their stadiums were new and didn't have the history of Old Trafford.

What old stadium has a big club actually changed the name for sponsorship reasons?
