Ancelotti and Van Gaal

I agree. Moyes is a really good guy but he just didn't have it in him, I don't think players disliked him so much as were frustrated in him and didn't have faith in his ideas.

There are so many rumours flying about. United have handled a lot of things badly since Fergie left and it's clear a lot of media speculation is coming from within the club. How else did every major journalist pick up on the story at once?

David Moyes began remonstrating with the fourth official. Out of the United manager’s earshot, but loud enough it seemed for Steve Round, Moyes’s assistant, to hear, came a shout from a disgruntled player — “Send him off, we’d be better off”.

sigh..
----------------------------------------------------------------------
If true then Steve Round should have nailed said player against the dressing room wall.

Why did chelsea sack Carlo again?
-----
Didn't replace ageing players and forced him to play Torres which led to a limp title defence.

What's the gist of that story? Can't read it without subscribing.

first paragraph sums it up, I really didn't know the players hated Moyes this much.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

But does it say who the player was?

Agree Melton, I hope Moyes gets the chance to speak out and able to defend himself somewhat, and I believe some of those players really need to take a hard look at themselves. Some of the pathetic performances and lack of passion has been their fault for sure, not all down to the manager's tactics.

Thats exactly why I asked about the leak marcelinho. Uniteds PR department is miles ahead of any other clubs, the relationships they have with certain journalists though, it is very obvious to see when the club is leaking it rather than the agents.

It's why I get irritated when journalists get the blame. It is rarely them, there is always someone pulling the strings.

Doesn't say who the player was, no. You know, Ferguson did so well to bottle up his retirement plans for 5 months. United are literally a sieve now, everything is coming out.

Henrik, yeah I agree. He clearly lost the dressing room.

I think that's why a manager with credentials is what is needed at United.

I'm a bit unsure over the problems that surround Van Gaal but I'd imagine that's the sort of personality this team needs.

Subs in Greece were:

13 Lindegaard
11 Giggs
14 Hernandez
19 Welbeck [Subbed On 60']
26 Kagawa
28 Buttner
31 Fellaini

I don't think he could ever grasp the respect of the dressing room in the first place. I always come back to it but Pel always said a big club must play as a big club- they must have the mindset of a big club in how they approach games.

If you don't have that then you must have a strong personality for players to have confidence in your overall idea. That's why defensive minded managers at big clubs are always strong personalities. I can't think of a defensive manager at a big club who doesn't

Given Giggs was on the players bench and the rumours about him avoiding being photographed with Moyes surfaced afterwards is it a safe bet to think that Giggs made the comments?

'A senior player.' It can only have been Giggs, surely?

In Italy I don't think that's been the case, Henrik.

But on the whole nowadays I see where you're coming from.

There is only one team United's players felt inferior to this season and it's the only game Moyes came out with credibility-Bayern.

United may well be inferior to teams domestically but players who have dominated domestic football do not actually believe they are inferior simply because they have experienced beating these teams for so long.

The only time Moyes' inferiority made sense was when the players truly believed they were inferior.

Every other manager in the top four for example either allows these big players to express themselves or it is Mourinho whose strong personality convinces his players into the ideas.

Moyes never adapted to a big club-you can't manage United like Everton.

At least two players went to see Moyes to complain about a lacking of playing time. They were told if they didn’t like it he would not stand in their way this summer.

posted on 22/4/14

How would the player tell the press if moyes himself only found out this morning? They wouldn't have found out before him.

In fairness Fergie could quite possibly have done the same.

Henrik, yeah I agree. But I'm just saying at clubs like Juve and Milan in the past it's not needed a strong personality.

At United it's different. It's why I'm quite excited at the prospect of Van Gaal because we would see some attractive football again.

I'm not saying I believe all of that btw because rumours are going into overdrive now.

Best to take a bit of caution over what will likely come out during the next few days.

posted on 22/4/14

Something I don't get is everytime the players were pictured in training they were having a laugh with each other, everything looked rosy and well. But deep down that wasn't even the case.

Spot on. The only caveat I would say is that he may well have got there in the end, it would have taken a lot of time and a lot of money though and still not been guaranteed.

I said the same earlier TRS.

That's the pr when things are going badly though Arab, like the mata transfer that came out in the guardian. A split second picture can mean absolutely nothing as well, remember
