Yeah, his first move outside of his homeland, where he's used to the glamour of Real Madrid and it's fantastic climate.

Ozil didnt have a great season just gone, and remember Sahin?

He's still only 22, so if he wants to really make an impression a loan would be the way forward..

same for any foreign player whos never moved country, if anything thered be less pressure here, but anyway I dont see where he fits in.. we have coutinho and lallana where he plays

ozils season was much better than sahins aswell

He can play anywhere in the attacking midfield positions. He fits in perfectly. Whether he would suit the league is another matter however.

@SkySportsPeteO: Liverpool have enquired about taking Real Madrid midfielder Isco on loan, according to reports in Spain. #LFC

Why loan?

no I know he would fit in, but what about coutinho and lallana? surely we need a winger more than annother cam

We play quite narrowly with the fullbacks providing the width, don't think a winger would fit that well.

sterling sturridge coutinho lallana lambert remy isco markovic for 4 positions... which actually coukd work.. for some reason I thought we had more players

Linked to Lovren again in a £15/16m deal, probably the right price for him

Why would Southampton who want 25m having turned down 20m now let him go for 15/16m?

Hopefully get some deal for Lovren done asap, don't want it dragging on as far as deadline day.

Reports from Merseyside suggest Borini will NOT be on plane that leaves for pre-season tour this afternoon. Clearly, good news for #SAFC

As reported in Sportske Novosti, Dejan Lovren's £20m move from Southampton to Liverpool is expected to be completed in the coming days.

that says 20mil euros, why does everyone always contradict eachother with the currency

Yeah Ilori, I noticed he said £20m rather than €20m hopefully it was a mistake on his part.

lets say it is anyway

Has Lovren ever played as a RCB rather than a LCB in his career? He's right footed so might be able to easily adjust to the right side but it will be interesting to see if Rodgers plays Skrtel-Lovren or Lovren-Sakho.

If he's brought in we'll have Skrtel, Agger, Sakho, Lovren, Kolo, Ilori and Coates so probably loan Ilori and loan/sell Coates, and I'd listen to offers for Skrtel/Agger as if we keep both we'll have 4 CBs who all want first team football.

posted on 20/7/14

yes he did in france i believe, it would be for skrtel, we wouldnt be buying for lcb

posted on 20/7/14

It's always good having a CB comfortable on both sides

Looks like the potential target Davies is on his way to Spurs. Not much of a fan of that transfer anyway.

Outs (Likely):
Suarez - £75m
Borini - £12-14m
Assaidi - £7m

Total - £94-96m

Ins (Likely):
Lallana - £25m
Lambert - £4m
Can - £9.75m
Markovic - £19.8
Remy - £8.5m
Lovren - £16m

Total: £83m

So that's a net spend of -£13m so far, but after Markovic was signed Rodgers said none of the Suarez money had been spent (And maybe a couple more players to be sold)
So still leaves a lot of funds for a LB, and maybe a marquee signing if one becomes available.

That said I'm not filled with confidence, that might be a good thing though as Spurs fans were confident they'd challenge for the league after spending the Bale money.

I think we could do with a big name signing this summer. Missed out on Sanchez who has gone to Arsenal, and Chelsea have brought in Costa and Fabregas.

I'm glad we've strengthened the depth in the squad but fear we might be left behind by City and Chelsea this season. Seen someone put they felt our team was weaker currently than last year - hate to say it but at the moment I agree with them.

I'm not saying replacing Suarez will be easy, it probably isn't possible - but we could still do with a big name signing in my opinion. Preferably someone with Champions League experience.

Spurs bought all there players from abroad with Baldini making the buys without AVB consultation. We on the other hand seem to have hand picked BR choices with the majority coming from the prem.
