Fair point.. we would probably instead feed and house a larger population.

However wood is starting to become a scarce commodity, so I think market pressures will move to more trees being planted soon as a matter of necessity, especially with modern advances that mean we can make a more environmentally friendly alternative to glass from wood, as well as making Lignin based carbon fibre

The UK is a rainforest nation, it's a crying shame we don't have any true rainforest remaining

They should use more hemp and less wood.

They can 3d print hempcrete now, but as it's not load bearing it still needs a timber frame, I absoloutely agree we should grow hemp for a variety of reasons though, it's a very good crop at capturing carbon

3d printed homes are the future, hempcrete is amazingly insulative as well as absorbing carbon from the atmosphere for 50 years after its been made

Turkey are doing lots of experiments with growing hemp

Textiles too.

There is a school of thought that weed is illegal simply because it would destroy the cotton and wood trades.

posted on 8/6/21

Yes, textiles and also animal feed

We feed cows a ridiculously unnatural diet, feeding them hemp as 10% Of their feedstock would reduce their carbon emissions through burping (it's not farts) by around 1/3rd, that's a reduction in their methane which is 32x worse from a global warming standpoint than carbon dioxide.

It uses a fraction of the water of cotton, which would allow lakes to recover.

I didn't know that about animal feed.

It is vastly more efficient at making paper than wood is apparently.

Gaelic football is just football where you can use your hands although no heading allowed. Also the ball is a bit smaller.

Hurley is just all out war. A great game with plenty of violence. The fastest outdoor field sport in the world

What's the one with sticks then? Is that lacross, I thought there were sticks with nets or sommat.

It's like a foreign country sometimes isn't it.

Hurley? I don't know what that is but i like the sound of it.

I'll look them up as currently I know more about kabaddi I think.

Also a great source of oil 👍

Would affect too many industries to allow it of course, it was America that pressured the banning of it globally.

Tried watching both of these and genuinely had no idea what was going on. Same with Aussie rules.

I should also add, that there's a small amount of evidence that human consumption of it might cause lower cancer rates, including as a result of bioaccumulation in animals.

Meaning if you fed cows, pigs and chickens hemp derivatives (like we used to) their produce could lead to suppressed rates of cancer.

Over the bar is 1 point. A goal is worth 3 points. Also helmets have only been mandatory about 10 years and the fookers still don't wear shinguards.
