Jota was having the ball taken off him and waiting too long a few times. He did some good things too but I don't see him keeping Firmino out of the team with that level of performance IMO.

I was disappointed with Jota yesterday actually overall, didn't think he had the best of games and couldn't create that link that Firmino does with Mane and Salah either side. Yesterday shows how important Firmino is to linking that front 3 up.

I'm hoping potentially Jones can step into that midfield now and make it a little more dynamic, but I'm not sure how well it worked trying to integrate him, presumably on the left of the midfield) to work with Mane and Robertson.

what a load of nonsense tbh, he created manes best 2 chances of the match

Jota was good. Could’ve been played in by Mane a couple of times too for a shot at goal.

I really like how Salah and Mane both fill in at full back when required .

he should have had 2 assists at the very least, i thought his link up was decent, i felt he was sloppy on the ball at times but also very good at times. He held the ball up well at times others not so well. Overall though like Mane and Salah he came out on top vs Leeds defenders maybe overshadowed as Bobby often was being the link up, unselfish one.

He overhit the ball across to Mane as well as putting it behind him, he didn't need to hit that as hard as he did, he just needed to put it across, not smash it across to him. He made it harder for Mane than what was necessary.

That's what I mean about being disappointed. Did some good stuff, but just let me down personally.

Both have their attributes, seems obvious to me that Firmino is the better link up player considerably but Jota is going to score a lot more goals. Horses for courses innit. I'd probably want Firmino for the bigger games personally.

he didnt overhit it i doubt it gets past the gk if he doesnt put some pace on it tbf.

hes gotta get it past the keeper and past the defender i felt the pace and weight was near perfect, if anything mane got ahead of the ball.

I just didn't think he needed to blast it across to him. All a matter of opinion though.

Probably being a bit critical as he wasn't poor, I was just a bit disappointed.

for the angle to get it infront of mane im pretty sure the keeper gets a leg to it, the angle just wasnt on for that. any slower and the defender becomes an issue. Manes movement near brilliant the ball was near perfect just a bit unfortunate that both resulted in it being slightly behind mane who probably should still have done better.

trent needs to work on beating the first man at corners, anytime he beat the front post we had a huge threat from them. Can't believe how often we still fail to beat the near post at corners. Esp with vvd back it should not be happening, dock him wages everytime he does it imo.

He wasn't poor at all but like Mane he has areas he could improve at the minute.

Agree with that, the one time he put one towards the penalty spot area Van Djik had a free header and should have done better in that situation as well.

pea head matip and vvd we cannot be going near post flick ons or just poor corners that dont beat the front post when you have these 2 up for corners, unacceptable. I fkin love Matip what a game he had, even started salahs goal didnt he he on the edge of their box. His reaction when salah scored be on no content matip.

Yeah possibly but hitting the first man is something that every supporter of every club has an issue with at some time or another and the reason it happens is because they are launching it in at 70mph with dip and if you don't launch it in at 70mph then it's easy to defend and the chance is therefore not created.

His delivery is fine.

hmmm the fabinho goal was more of a loft to the penalty spot if anything. Van Dijk won it knocked it down to fab caused panic and put it in 2nd time of asking. i dont think they have to be whipped in with pace and accuracy just give the 2 cbs a chance.

Didn't Matip have a couple of shots at goal?

His forward movement carrying the ball from defence and deep into opponent territory led to the first goal.

posted on 13/9/21

fabinho aint no midget either is he, we only send 5 up most send 6, mane and jota were the other 2 usually. Manes got a gd leap on him as has jota. We look a huge threat again at them again esp now vvd and matip are back.

Oh yeah it isn't easy to do obviously and I can understand why you'd want them deliveries because they are the most difficult to defend.

But sometimes it's better to just drop one into an area, maybe even "overhitting" the corners slightly to get it towards that penalty spot area. A bit of variety can't hurt.

yeah im hoping jones steps up now, hes clearly the one with a point to prove now and this unfortunate injury has given him a good opportunity to remind us and klopp Elliotts not the only rising star we have.

Fabinho, Thiago and Hendo now.

Keita, Ox and Jones waiting in the wings.

Thiago was the biggest positive for me. First start and he played like he did for the last 10 games of last season.

Wonderful footballer and I love watching him. He has to start every game in my opinion.
