I noticed yesterday we play a lot of outswinging corners. With the height and physicality of VVD and Matip I'm surprised we don't challenge the goalkeeper a little more with an inswinger.
Anyway, good team performance yesterday. Fabinho was sublime and deserved his goal.
Mane is such an enigma currently. I haven't seen him with such good movement in a while so many times in a match and that was great to see but his finishing whenever he had to think about it was absolutely piiiiiss poor.
As soon as he had no time it was a classic Sadio Mane touch and shot and that's what he's so good at.
The outswinging corners obsession has been on going quite a while now, I find it weird personally.
There must be some stats to back up why we do it but you need variation to keep the opponent guessing. Last inswinger we probably did was Alisson's goal as well.
I think we do outswingers simply because it's Robbo and Trent that take them in the main.
System wise we don't really want them on the other side of the pitch if the ball gets turned over, which the majority of time it will.
We're better than most at them.
Our record at corners and set pieces is pretty impressive the last few years, excluding last season's bad patch.
There's no guarantee we would see more success with inswingers. I reckon a good few of them would be collected by the keeper.

Friend of mine who is a GK now a coach says the best time to use the inswinger is for a nervous GK. We seem to face GKs having the game of their lives most games!

It will also come down to opposition. The amount of stats available to teams, in terms of keepers strengths and weakness coming off the line, whether teams concede more from outswingers/inswingers etc.

Just been watching some Milan highlights. Don't see too much to worry us from the little I have seen although Rafael Leão looks a handful.
Only 22. Quite like the look of him.

I think based prestige or European pedigree alone, they won't be such pushovers.
Sort of like us where you always sort of gave us a chance in Europe even when we weren't so great like now. Also apart from the time Rodgers managed us in Europe.
Just seen a stat, we’ve had 100 shots in our first 4 games. First team to do so since Chelsea in 08/09.

Tomori and Romagnoli are their CB's with a double pivot of Kessie and Tonali. I don't rate their forward players of Diaz, Rebic and Leao. Rebic the only quick player in their forward line.
We haven't done well against Italian teams in the last few years with the exception of the Atalanta away game.
Italian teams will always bring tactical superiority in how they exploit weaknesses of the opposition.

No surprise that our bad patch with corners came when we had no centre backs fit. I also remember thinking last season we conceded a few goals from set pieces which Virgil would've cleared had he been fit. Llorente for Leeds being one, can't remember the others off the top of my head.
We were ok from them defensively when Nat was playing. Any time we did concede from them it was when he didn't play.
Team for Milan (guess):
GK - Ali
RB - TAA
CB - Matip
CB - Konate
LB - Tsimikas
RM - Hendo
DM - Fab
LM - Jones
RF - Mo
CF - Jota
LF - Mane
Think Konate gets a start, or Gomez personally. Keita too.

Matip 2 games in a week?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
He's had the international break
Klopp basically said last season that he can't play 2 games in a week.
Is Van Djik injured? Or just not in your team?

rested
I will be a little surprised if he's rested personally, I'd expect Konate to start ahead of Matip in the week and maybe Thiago for a bit more experience than Jones.
