I really don’t understand why Klopp persists with it tbh.
I'm assuming the decision was made with Trent inverting and us not leaving him alone isolated in midfield...but even yesterday, we looked slightly better when Trent positioned himself on the right side of the defence. Szoboss dropped next to Mac and Robbo was allowed to push up allowing Diaz to move infield.
The entire side's shape is dependent on Trent's positioning these days.
That's why say a specialist like Robbo hasn't looked his best at all times
Carlos Baleba Brightons new DM had a good game
just watching motd, emerson got a yellow for asking for a card.. wheres the consistency?
guimeraes also escaped blatant 2nd yellow. Wheres the consistency thats 2 this weekend where jota got a red for despite being nowhere near as bad, infact the first never was.
Let's see what that bald contradicting twwat says later in ref watch
almiron asking for a yellow card, nothing same match
makes me sick how poor the standard of officiating is in the prem. Its so bad its sickening.
no doubt shearer wont say a word
oh dead newcastles first equaliser was never a free kick either
The Gross red card got ignored on Match of the day
love laughing at moyes but west ham were robbed. chapman said would have been harsh on west ham wouldnt it? shearer just ignored him carried on talking about how good a game it was
ah shearers been forced into not being bias bless him
PGMOL needs to start looking at VAR as a tool to help them officiate better, then things will improve.
And not just big decisions but almost every decision
murphy saying reds used to be for horrible tackles now theyre for nothing tackles. Well yeah they want more goals and entertainment in the game then you have to be punished for breaking up attacks with professional fouls.
If refs were more consistent on it we'd see a lot less of them, same as we'd see lless players asking for others to be booked if they were consistent with that. But no they choose who and when and lets the majority off as we saw with jota last week and kovacic and guimuraez sunday.
People need to understand that the law around bookings for gesturing for cards is completely subjective and therefore by default won't be consistent. The law states something like 'excessive gesturing'. Since there is no amount which constitutes 'excessive' in the law, referees therefore have a free reign to decide if they're going to book a player for it or not. Although I'm sure they were given guidance on it at the start of the season, we don't know what that guidance is.
Red cards for pulling players back when they're about to score, ie intentionally fouling a player to stop them scoring, where there's a chance they could miss the penalty are fair, otherwise why not just foul a player when he's about to score every time, if you haven't been previously booked?
When it's unintentional, it's also fair that it's only a booking as you're potentially conceding a goal and getting sent off for something not intended.
Pretty even game on balance, we could have won it and probably should have been playing 10 men instead but a draw feels about right. Don't think you can blame the team too much for the first goal conceded, Brighton are a top-pressing team and it showed.

Shearer is the perfect example of how sportswashing works.
He gave a few token words when they were bought but now all he cares about is Newcastle doing well and won't engage with anyone who brings it up.
Also that first Kovacic foul was a worse tackle than any of our reds this season, and the second foul on Rice not being given a yellow makes a mockery of Jota being sent-off.
Oliver is a better ref than most and you want players to stay on the pitch, and the ref to use judgement, but that's small comfort when Hooper was punishing any minor infraction without any judgement - nor apparently context - whatsoever.
That Spurs game last week will stay in my mind like the Arsenal 3-2 last year, and the draw at Spurs too
its in his interest to not p off the man city owners, risks his UAE employment
i think if olivers sent to the screen kovacic is sent off. ofc they dont though if that was us the monitor and big screen in the stadium would have the worst still image they could find witrhin seconds.
Not seen anything said about Bissouma on here, imagine being sent off for diving.

True, but we've been told that refs will be clamping down on it this season and the way Hooper was producing yellow cards left, right and centre it is amusing he let those incidents slide. If there was any game to clamp down on it then it was this game. He was already handing out yellows like there's no tomorrow so there was no need for the gesturing.

I've also read that Spurs have an intentional approach to games to get opponents booked and sent off as much as possible. Part of their strategy under Ange.
