You’d hope so, though it’s still €16m short of their reported asking price. Hopefully this is the meeting in the middle figure.

Meanwhile, Liverpool’s pursuit of Bournemouth left-back Milos Kerkez is expected to drag on into next week with discussions now at an advanced stage between the two clubs. Bournemouth are demanding a fee of £45m for Kerkez, which is around £5m above what Liverpool are prepared to pay, yet there is a confidence that a compromise can be agreed.

Liverpool’s sporting director Richard Hughes is at the forefront of discussions with Bournemouth, his former club. Kerkez is a top target with Liverpool seeking a new left-back to provide competition and become the long-term successor for Scotland international Andy Robertson.
