Exactly what I said on here before. Shocking umpiring from both Dar and Dharmasena. Once a decision has been given the ball is dead there is no two ways about it. Simply because Australia threw the ball and hit the stumps before Taylor reviewed the original LBW decision it doesn't mean a further mode of dismissal can be given or runs made.

It's not as if there is an excuse for it; there were thousands of people watching it that were well aware it couldn't be out. There were commentators in the box that knew it couldn't be out. Players on the pitch knew it couldn't be out. The only idiots that didn't realise it were the people being paid to apply the laws of cricket.

Not a great advert for the World Cup. And if Net Run Rate end up being important at some point, it will be interesting to say the least.

It didn't make a difference in terms of the result but imagine if it had come down to the last wicket with England needing a couple of more runs to win the game. It calls into question whether the umpires actually know the laws of the game and in particular the laws regarding DRS and when a ball is "dead".

Ridiculous that the umpires didn't know the rules, it's a very basic thing to mess up. Expected better from aleem dar at least.

These mistakes could be eliminated or at least minimised by communications as needed between umpires and the referee via walkie talkie devices.

The could be eliminated by the umpires learning the basic rules of cricket.. It was truely shocking. They were on walkie talkie with 3rd umpire, but he was as clueless as the on-field guys

We had this kind of farcical misunderstanding of rules in the 2007 WC final. ICC should bring all the umpires and referees on a conference call or webinar.
