Dunkirk was a better film for me

Working away later this week so going to give 1917 a go.
That or Star Wars, but I've not been fond of the series.

No.
Hacksaw Ridge was more enjoyable than Dunkirk in the cinema, for me.
Dunkirk was better made, had a great cast but I felt Hacksaw Ridge was an easier watch.

Pretty much my thoughts and I would say Chris Nolan is my favourite director.
Hoping to catch 1917 this weekend

It was good, but Dunkirk is one of the best films of the 2010s imo. And I say that as someone who didn't enjoy Nolan's films really until Interstellar came out.
I think Apocalypto is Mel Gibson's best film.

.... why?

I felt Dunkirk was OK. There's no attachment to anyone in the film. It's just faceless. Documentaries can pull that off. A film needs to pull you in and at least make you care.
Apocalyto was fun but it doesnt come remotely close to Braveheart for me.

Nolan's best in order, for me:
Memento
The Prestige
The Dark Knight
Inception
Dunkirk
Interstellar
Batman Begins
The Dark Knight Rises
Few of his earlier ones I haven't seen (e.g. Insomnia)

I really liked Interstellar until the ending, so that's probably damaged my perception of it.
Probably need to watch that & Memento again as its been years!
Inception is one of the greatest films of all time for mes o would be top.
Anyone else disappointing with Once upon a time in Hollywood?

Definitely between Nolan and Tarantino for my favourite director.
For the latter, any of Pulp Fiction, Reservoir Dogs, Inglorious, and The Hateful Eight could be my favourite.
Then Django, then Hollywood, then Kill Bill (Pt 2 > Pt 1). Not seen Jackie Brown but really need to!
