Oh sorry I forgot - name change plus someone threw a shedload of cash their way.
Same pitch, same rules, same number of players, same old Association Football, same records

different rules
To be fair to Vardy he did not get a 3 month holiday in between like Van Nistelrooy did.
But I agree that Vardy needs to score in the next two to hold an all time record.
Don't you think that changing of organisation and all that brought with it has become a good point to reference for modern football in England?
It always used to be post-war - were you up in arms about that as well?

Record or not, it's still one hell of an achievement.
begrudgery?
there isn't an English 1st division any more.
Just enjoy it like the rest of us.

Chelsea spend a billion and play for the point
Rules in sport have changed a lot in the past but only in England's top flight do we see a disparity of records. Look at the NBA, NFL, Cricket; everyone has done major and surgical changes, but no pseudo-revision of history. In fact, most people don't want their history being messed with at all.

Really different ? Just the usual tinkering that happens every season.
I'm not denigrating Vardy's achievement in any way, I just hate this idea that football before 1992 somehow doesn't count. Why not since 2000, THIS CENTURY would make more sense.
What about International football ? What year shall we go back to for that ? Has to be pre-1966 otherwise we may never have won a World Cup.
I guess the problem is that so many posters on here were born AFTER 1992.

Nah, the problem is you get uptight about things that don't matter.
If people were saying Vardy has broken the all time record, okay - moan.
But they are talking about a specific competition, with specific time boundaries.
If it wasn't for young posters, us old cants would have nobody to lord it over....

I've been saying much the same thing on another thread for a few days now. These people are really protective over their records.
It's a premier league record, it's quite specifically announced and referred to as such. Who cares?
