Why would I research it when it was not me who used the NBA as some sort of evidence?
Meh not sure why anyone cares tbh
Imagine there is a new boxing organisation called the WBB and someone goes on a record breaking history making run of 1 defence. Never mind the poor sod that held all the other belts 30 years ago and was defending champion for 3 fights.
Boxing really isn't the best sport to choose

You're the one who was keen to dig a little deeper into the history of the NBA. Go ahead.
Don't get why people are so bothered by this.
The premier league is a separate organisation to the football league so are always going to make a distinction between records.
Not really, because they always talk about the seperate organisations.
It is like when Mike Tyson became the first, and only, person to unite the Heavyweight WBA, WBC and IBF titles by beating Tony Tucker.

There only needs to be one record. Why complicate matters?

So you want to make a point, but others to try and prove it for you?
Won't happen because it is an irrelevant, and erroneous, point.

I understand it perfectly it is just not necessary.
Individual records in team sports are not necessary, why talk about them at all?

Because talking about records being broken is exciting, it gets people interested and it sells newspapers. And as we're demonstrating it gets them talking.
It is strange, but the posters who seem to think they are protecting the legacy of the history of top flight football with their comments seem to be ones most desperate to rewrite history.
This is why I don't get when the old farts of the boards get all animated about this - I can clearly remember the pre-Prem days, and as such can clearly delineate between then and now. When someone tells me something is a Premiership record, I have no trouble understanding that is not the same as an all time record. Hence the name.
Also worth noting that this is the first time the name 'Jimmy Dunne' has been mentioned.
Strange that.

Jimmy Dunne of Sheffield United holds the most consecutive games in the top flight with 12

Apart from here
But the outraged OP didn't mention Jimmy at all.

Pele scored in 750 consecutive games.
Allegedly.

It`s also worth noting that the article is about Vardy equalling the all time top division record.
Not really sure why you waffling on about prem records.

Because that is exactly what the article is about - the distinguishing between PL records and top flight records.
Add reading and understanding to the things you need to improve on in school, boy.
