liking rebels so far, though the animation is complete trash
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Yes agreed but it has a solid story.
Still not on the level of CW though.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
At its high point, it’s just as good as CW..
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Possibly but CW overall has the more high points, in my opinion. I guess it's unfair to compare both, as one covers one of the greatest periods in SW history whilst the other covers a very low key epoch.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
No doubt for sure, overall CW wins.
for a spin-off with new characters, they knocked Rebels out the park.. it’s a gem of a show.

The selling point for me in terms of Rebels was always the group dynamic and their adventures. They intersected with other stories and characters but at its core, it was about their family.
Is CW really a spin off with new characters though? For me it was built and sold primarily off (the start) of Obi 1, Anakin and Yoda as well as being the filler between Ep2 and 3. Don't get me wrong I love Ahsoka but she's basically just Anakin v2 for the first few seasons.
Rebels and to only tiny bit of a lesser extent Bad Batch introduced completely new characters who no one had heard of, and created basically new arcs not related to "main fight". Also CW only gets going after a few seasons, Rebels is rocking at by the end of S1

Feel that's an easy win for CW Anakin
He's got years and years of being trained and taught by the best of that generation
Now Mando s2 Luke is a more interesting contest
Yeah isn't it cannon that Luke eventually goes onto surpass Anakin? It used to be, at least... but Anakin had more potential and ended up being hindered by the suit

Yeh, agreed, Rebels is the Spin off..
Btw.. we are what, 25 years away from the Force Awakens… somebody built StarKiller Base.
Then that should be well under construction.

To add to the above, Anakin in CW is a seasoned warrior, based on his experiences in an actual war. All the jedis during that time were enhanced because of that conflict. They spent long periods of time in battle and trying to defeat the enemy. Anakin during CW was also facing off against formidable fighters like Dooku,Maul,Savage,Grevious,Ventress etc.
Luke has the talent but his abilities haven't been honed in actual combat. I think Obi Wan in the CW could take Luke from ROTJ.
The Luke in the Zahn trilogy is the more interesting battle.

Luke surpasses him in mastery of the force.
Anakin was still more skilled in actual combat and battle tactics.
I think it's widely accepted that if Anakin fulfilled his force potential, he would have been more powerful than any sith or jedi in history.
I dunno, Luke was pretty skilled in combat by the end and would have faced a more broad range of things than Anakin.
But yeah agree about Anakin's potential

There wasn't much going on in terms of conflict, during Luke's years. Even in the Zahn trilogy, he was mostly having a mini altercations, as opposed to large scale contests.
Anakin was a general during the CW. He probably faced more challenges in one month than Luke did in his entire life.
Yeah but I personally think the nature of the stuff Luke was encountering would have been more varied and useful in a one on one situation than the stuff Anakin learned in TCW.
Just to add context, the Clone Wars lasted 3 years.

CW Anakin is a complete badass, but we talking going up against Jedi, and for me Luke at that point in his life is the ultimate Jedi. Anakin is still a Padwan, who takes on Ahsoka and fails her. Anakin is reckless, and has inner demons. Luke is whole.
Great fight no doubt, but I have to give it to Luke.

Sorry T I can't agree with that. Anakin was forged in war and trained from 10 years old from practicionors with hundreds of years of experience - as Guv said he also faced off against the best the empire and the Sith had who were also trained for decades. Luke practiced with an old man for 30 mins, read some books and done a handstand in the swamp. It's not even close

Legends Luke is arguably the most singularly powerful individual in the known universe purely because there is no one else else at this time, Luke does most stuff fairly diplomatically in legends, and only usually beats out non force users often with difficulty.
Does a shiiiit load of stuff over the course of the books! I guess they always seem like a struggle cos otherwise there'd be no story, but I think he'd eventually surpass Anakin in a one on one
But that's what makes legends Luke so good, he has supermanesque powers but doesn't really know how to use them, and constantly fooks up and is always learning and trying to improve. He is given an instruction manual with no context and for me is what makes him such an amazing intriguing character
