That episode was just the middle phase of a chess game, pieces needed to be moved around and put in the right place but, yeah, it covered a lot less time - everything on the planet was almost entirely in real time, in fact.
I didn't have an issue with Ezra not taking the saber. He hasn't had access to a saber for years and has probably been working on his force connection, which was showcased during the action scene. I think he needed the saber for Shin but at that point, it was too late.
Sabine continues to be the weakest part of the show for me. I mentioned how she hasn't shown any concern or sadness about Ahsoka being killed and in this episode, she continued that trend. She was content to even refrain that vital piece of information from Ezra. You can tell him about the Emperor being defeated but not about a close friend dying?!
Yea I’m not liking the casting of Sabine. Think she’s a poor actress for this role but the writing for her isn’t great.
Weakest point of the show
Aside from the space battle and the short saber fight between Ahsoka and Baylon, the action remains disappointing.
The bandits chasing Ezra and Sabine were useless and at no point did I feel anyone's life was under threat. Also, why are people conveniently shooting at Sabine and hitting her Beskar armour, which only covers a minimal amount of her body? It's like they are trying to do the Mando thing, where he can walk through blaster fire. Ahsoka then arrives and pretty much takes out Shin in less than 5 seconds but why didn't she do that when they were in the forest?!
Then you have the comedy of the zombie troopers finally arriving and surrounding Ezra and Sabine, only for them to stop shooting because Ezra says "wait".

Yep as Hengy said it was basically a 40 min long action sequence that took up 40 mins. As a SW fan I really enjoyed it. Think a few have mentioned how Star Warsy Ahsoka is which has been really good.
The only thing I didn't like was with 2 drop ships veruses a weaponless dude, Sabine who loses to those training ball things and 1 jedi and they still can't do anything........
And for me the worse thing was

The Emperor line annoyed me, as did the omission of Luke.
Luke's victory represented the rebirth of the Jedi. Sabine might have wanted to mention that to another Jedi that has survived.
Something like:
Sabine: The Empire's defeat came at Endor, thanks to the efforts of the rebellion and a Jedi named Luke Skywalker
Ezra: I thought the Jedi were gone?
Sabine: So did the galaxy.
Ezra: Where's this Luke now and what happened to Ahsoka?
Yeah i hate that in these shows they all talk in riddles and twitter speak.

Finally got around to watching Ep7.
Was good and very Star Warsy feel to it. Liked the C3PO bit and a reminder of the political power Leia has. Got to admit, slightly cheesy as it was, the line "We're going to get pulverised if we stay out here much longer" made me smile.
Two issues - the emperor being dead (so they say), just so badly handled. But that's been covered already.
Second thing is Ahsoka in battle. This is a Jedi brought up and trained in war. Her sabre skills are supposed to be exceptional and in CW/Rebels that's evidenced time and time again. She toyed with inquisitors in Rebels, didn't even need her lightsabre to best them. Tales of the Jedi, she just took the lightsabre off the inquisitor and killed him. Took seconds. She held her own against Maul in CW; Vader in Rebels ffs.
Why does she struggle so much in this! I can understand why she struggled with Baylon in the first battle, she was distracted by concern for Sabine and still weighed down by guilt. But the whole point of the Anakin episode (I thought at least) was to free Ahsoka to be all she can be again. Great, let's see it. First opportunity and Baylon is again more than a match for her and even trolls her by saying she can't beat him!
Look, I like the Baylon character so don't necessarily want him killed off but he should at least be massively on the back foot - he should visibly show that he can't really handle this Ahsoka at peace with herself. Or if he can, explain why and how!
Nobody wants the Mary Sue character that is under no threat or danger but equally you need to give the character her due respect imo. A focused Ahsoka should be formidable.
On the plus side, Thrawn was great this episode.

called it from day one, the sabre skills and or choreography combined with the writing has been quite poor, average at best IMO. From what I have seen of Ahsoka in other stuff she is pretty damn handy wiht the sabres, I also thought this in the mando episode where she fought that other chick with the beskar spear, and this has continued into Ahsoka.
I agree I thought Thrawn was far better written in this episode, viewers are yet to see what he is really capable of however and still not seem a proper threat yet.

I wasn't really referring to the choreography or the actors skill as such, it's more the relative projections of power that they represent. And in turn, what that does to the character - how they're seen.
It would be amazing if Rosario Dawson & Ray Stevenson could put on a Hayden and Ewan type display but you don't need that.
It's the writing (as you said) that's the problem for me. They're not representing Ahsoka as previous (canon) material suggests she should be. It's beginning to drag the series down imo.

The choreography of the saber fights and general action are below the required standard.
Let's look at a simple example. Look at the speed of the saber battles in the prequels. It's fast paced and when the combatants are stationary, they are still moving the sabers at a quicker and urgent pace. Ahsoka in the CW show is one of the most acrobatic and skilled saber duelist in the galaxy. Compare that to her battles with Baylon and it's like they are working in slow motion.
In terms of the writing, I agree it's not consistent with the TV shows. They've reduced her saber skills (albeit that could be primarily due to poor choreography) and she doesn't seem to use the force in the same way.
We've yet to see anything close to this version of Ahsoka:
https://youtu.be/wwhjsKqJ-Uc?si=jwuhrXJzO23ZzsWy
I think they should get a female stunt double for Rosario Dawson.
It was mentioned that Baylon was a general during the clone wars, so he must be a fairly powerful jedi.

I think they should get a female stunt double for Rosario Dawson.

It was mentioned that Baylon was a general during the clone wars, so he must be a fairly powerful jedi.
