I shilled for that movie. My gut was telling me different, but suppressed it. The Han Solo moment and the end battle, wrecked a good movie.
Now with the passage of time, oh and the facking films that came after it, JJ Abrams can blow it out of his ass!!
As a result Force Awakens doesn’t hold up....

Hated hated to admit that, it gotta keep it real.
It’s the better film of the 3, lots of stuff to like, but ultimately, a failure. 😤

I wouldn't rewatch it but there are scenes in that movie that still hold up.

Yeah it completely lost any rewatch value with the subsequent decisions made in TLJ and TROS

I still think FA is an enjoyable film. I haven't rewatched it since 2 & 3 came out because it irritates me what they did with the characters, but as a starting position for a trilogy it was decent imo.

I maintain Rey was an interesting character. Resourceful orphan making her way with unknown parents. Good chemistry with Finn, BB8 was a decent droid companion. It wasn't original but it was a good character that they absolutely ruined.

There were conversations afterwards as to who her parents were. To have that level of innate power, was she a Kenobi (her sneaking around the base was very OB1) or was she a Palpatine (the way she held the lightsaber was very Palps in RotS). It was intriguing.

The quest to find Luke Skywalker was ok as a story imo as well. It built him up as a mythical character - everything will be ok with the universe if we can just bring Luke back. Gave him status to a new audience. I remember in the cinema watching it the first time - there were goose-bumps when Rey climbed the stone steps, we saw Luke and she handed him the lightsaber. It was to be the return of the great jedi master, to stand with his sister against the First Order and train this new hero. What followed in TLJ was the worst thing to happen to SW. Just atrocious.

And finally the controversial one, I didn't mind Han dying. But it should have made Kylo irredeemable. No dallying with light and dark after that - should have made him 100% dark. Cutting his final link to the light side.

I don't think FA is a great film by any stretch but in terms of blame for the harm the sequel trilogy did to SW, I think it just about gets a pass from me. TLJ and RoS are to blame imo.

So just saw a report that Pedro wont be back for s4 of Mando........where we expecting this? Do we guess he will continue the voice?

I think we had discussions that he was barely in the suit for the last season anyway. I don't see why he wouldn't wanna continue the voice, money for old rope and gets to continue to play what is now an iconic role.

I suspect he'll do the voice and they'll get someone else to move like him.

Not surprising, Especially if they’ve moved away from him being the main character..
when is season 4 out?

Surely he'll want to keep involved to some degree? There'll be the marvel'esk film at some point bringing the story threads together which should be a big event and a big payday.

hmm the worry is that the reports that he wont "take part" in it suggest he wont be voicing it either.

I assume the will write it into the story that he never removes his helmet again.

This.. surely he wouldn’t want to miss out on the Movie…unless he’s been so disappointed with the show,that he’s over it and doesn’t care…

He’s got the Last of us and Fantastic Four, which is a very strange decision…

Could do. I mean why not.. but to lose him in the TV show when there’s a movie coming, I don’t think they’ll have the balls to do it.

shame though cos the Grogu/Mando dynamic is what the show is built on and all the best moments of the show revolve round they two.

I just bought into the protector and the love Mando has for Grogu that he didnt expect to find. Its props to Pascal for pulling that off.

Best actual feels of the Mando show for me without doubt was when Moff captured Grogu and the pain and revenge in Pascals tone when he sent that message had me anyway. He was very believable in having feelings he never really felt before and the bond was clear as day. Moff knew he had f**cked up after that message.

he has to, cant see them building him up as something huge then putting him on the back burner, Grogu is also the bread winner for this show in terms of merch!

Only worry is that half of the feels you have for Grogu come from this relationship with Mando. I dont see any of his wee trouble making stunts having the same pay off without bouncing it off Mando, if he does it with other characters he will just be annoying.

Im like others I just want a Grogu and Mando show and have them tie in with the bigger picture rather than try and spawn the bigger picture from their show if you know what I mean?

Also explains a lot of his past tweets etc saying: happy for Bo to be the lead etc

I also wondered if they would maybe kill him off, but yeh doubt it. Just more follow the Mandos and maybe Pedro pops up once a season with Grogu or something

Very interesting. Can only be a good move but much like Lucas himself Filoni seemingly has blind spots, or maybe he just didn't have enough influence before?
