I’d like Sabine to not be able to fully connect with the force and go back to be a Mando fighter.

She seems to have completely forgotten about her Mando side, which negates a lot of what happens in Rebels.

I think Thrawn didn't translate great to live-action. I know it's the same actor (who I do like), just didn't have the same gravitas in the show.

Live-action Hera, Chopper and Sabine I liked. Not sure about Ezra. Would have liked to see Zeb cameo here (I know he did in mando).

Ahsoka's ending was a bit predictable. Show has issues but still better than some of the recent attempts from SW.

think we can take it as given that the women roles are gonna have power arcs these days.

Yup, agree about Thrawn, I said as much..
I thought Ezra was ok, cos he shares most of his screen time with Sabine, think it affects him.
Well, I guess the Ahsoka/Baylon story line, has been left open, and it’s in an interesting place, with the Mortis gods, and will Baylon get to the WBW.

I think what will happen, is a few years will pass, and Thrawn has asserted his dominance, that’s where the Mandos come in.

I know it's its been said many times before, but what a shame about Stevenson. Enjoyed his character on the show.

Yeah, still gutted about that but seems they have little choice but to recast him now given the ending.

Overall I did like the show… that last Ep annoyed me though. But Ray totally nailed it. Such a shame…
But the role can be recast, and recast well.

Finally got around to watching Ep8 this weekend.

I did enjoy it but there were just daft moments imo. Sabine the jedi is irritating. It was obvious that she was going to have a moment and when she performed the saber pull I was ok with that. Her life was at risk and she managed to use the force. Great. We're done with that. Oh no, we're not done apparently - she's going to force push Ezra into a ship that's taking off

The saber fights were a bit ordinary tbh and even the Ahsoka v's Morgan battle was flat. As my wife said when watching - why didn't they attack her together, it would have been two and a half jedi against one witch. It would have taken 1 min. I didn't really have an answer tbh, just muttered something about that's not how SW works

Overall I think the series was a solid 7/10. It was fun and the characters mainly landed well for me. Hera, Ezra and Morgan were good for me. Thrawn was fine for the time he was on screen (albeit he could really do with a personal trainer...). Sabine was ok apart from the jedi arc which is stupid and pointless. Baylon and Shin the stand outs.

My biggest problem with the series though is one I really didn't foresee. I thought if absolutely nothing else, Filoni would get Ahsoka right. It's his character after all. But the Ahsoka we saw in live action didn't match up to what we'd seen in animation, not in terms of personality or power to use the force. That's the biggest disappointment for me.

Sabre use was still slow and rather boring in last episode. in fact it seems to be a running theme with all the combat in Ahsoka its all a bit clunky.

The troopers were damn good.... however I thought they were already resurrected? from that episode it seems they were alive to start with and then re-animated which is a bit confusing?

I dont mind Dawson as Ahsoka, I think her acting and character is believable. Im not so keen on her writing , as has been said by most she doesnt seem the true Ahsoka we all knew and were expecting coming in.

Thrawn was miles better in this episode, miles better. Getting to see how his mind works and how he is a threat. He is basically an anti movie cliche plot breaker. Every thing that most evil bosses seem to gloss over or forget about he actions or at least has a plan in place.

I still have faith in Filoni but it's taken a dent after Ahsoka season 1.

As much as we like to appreciate how good the animation side of SW is, it's evident that translating the show into live action, brings it's own difficulties and issues.

I'm willing to give Filoni time and I hope he's gained more knowledge from his time doing season 1.

The action scenes really need to improve. I don't understand how it's being overlooked. Surely they can see the fighting is slow and robotic?

They must be doing it deliberately. But for whatever reason; it’s still gash.

----------------------------------------------------------------------

Apparently each live action episode costs around £15m to make. They're not exactly penny pinching on these productions.

Far more likely to be incompetence rather than refusal to open the wallet imo.

posted on 9/10/23

I doubt money is the issue but let's say it is, why not cut out pointless scenes like sending 2 tie fighters to destroy the Ahsoka's ship? What about the CGI on Thrawn's ship destroying the tower? What about using less space whales in the show?

I feel like they don't see a problem with the fighting. Normally, this would be expected but if you have Filoni on board, he must have noticed these things?

That sounds awful, out of all the possible characters that would be a bad film idea........that's it

Now Maul, Dark Anakin/Vader etc hell yeh 100%

Slug on a hover sled with a maximum speed of a couple of miles an hour - imagine a chase scene! Would out do Leia!

posted on 9/10/23

Let's face it.. the only reason anyone liked Jabba is cause he had Leia in the bikini suit. And Twi'lek slaves.

Thinking about it, Jabba was the movie version of Cinci.

posted on 9/10/23

The Hutts are an interesting family but they are better left as mysterious criminal underworld lords. The last thing we need a movie about how Jabba started off as a tadpole and ended up being a gangster.
