I'm a big fan of Del Toro but I'm glad this got scrapped.

That sounds awful, out of all the possible characters that would be a bad film idea........that's it

Now Maul, Dark Anakin/Vader etc hell yeh 100%

Slug on a hover sled with a maximum speed of a couple of miles an hour - imagine a chase scene! Would out do Leia!

Let's face it.. the only reason anyone liked Jabba is cause he had Leia in the bikini suit. And Twi'lek slaves.

Thinking about it, Jabba was the movie version of Cinci.

Cinci's the real life version of C3PO

I reckon a movie about the cantina band would be cool. How did they get there, who did they sleep with etc etc.

That would work better as a sitcom.

We get to see their daily lives, who's sleeping with who's wife, who's doing shady business with Ewoks.

Don’t think that would be particularly interesting mate.

Kind of agree, it would be cool particularly as it would naturally chart the move to the dark side by Dooku.

But a large part of me hopes that if they go back, they go way back. I don’t actually mind them playing in the space between RotJ and the sequels, simply because the sequels absolutely fecked up the original characters so some rework is fine by me. But the whole Yoda, QGJ, Anakin, OB1 era - happy to leave that where it is.

I think it would be interesting to see him being trained by Dooku and going on missions. The tales of the jedi mini series showed the potential for that story.

I really hope after this Mando movie, they go to the Old Republic.

The skywalker saga needs to rest now.

Interesting idea from Matthew Vaughn. Actually wouldn't be dead against this.

I have no interest in a reboot.

The originals told the story perfectly and the prequels and clone wars helped flesh it out further.

They need to go back to the old republic and make a new trilogy, with new characters and villains. It's a sandbox that hasn't been touched, yet carries an abundance of potential.

I agree Guv. I am surprised he said this. While I think Vaughn would be a good choice, a reboot with totally new people in the roles, no thanks… comes across as a bit lazy.
Bring something new to the table, As been said, Star Wars has a world of potential.
He already knows there’s gonna be backlash… be a bit creative. That’s your job. Star Wars isn’t just aboot Luke, Leia, and Solo.

It seems to be a larger issue throughout cinema at the moment. There is too much reliance on rebooting or creating sequels to established franchises, instead of creating something fresh and new.

Unfortunately, creativity is lacking and there are only a handful of true storytellers left.

11 years ago today I got excited for a new Star Wars film.........yeh that didn't end quite as I expected

To be fair the first one was ok, had some good ingredients and decent chemistry for a while. The second one is where it went daft.

I enjoyed it for what it was. Especially before the silly story took hold.

Said at the time they can remake New Hope, but one difference, make the rebels lose. In OG they had to win - it was a 1 off film. The sequels not the case - they had 3 films. Rebels should have lost. In general should have done better for Luke and the OGs too but that's a different conversation

I liked it mainly because it had been 30+ years since episode 6 and It was amazing just to see SW back onscreen and exploring a time period that hadn't been touched. It had similarities to NH but it had other ideas that I thought would be explored further in the next movies.

Yeah, I quite liked it at the time. I could see that it was a rip off of ANH but it was still pretty fun and it was nice to get swept up in all the excitement. My family were visiting and we went to a midnight showing, never done that before or since.

Obviously after the whole trilogy came out it all became an incoherent mess

posted on 30/10/23

I shilled for that movie. My gut was telling me different, but suppressed it. The Han Solo moment and the end battle, wrecked a good movie.
Now with the passage of time, oh and the facking films that came after it, JJ Abrams can blow it out of his ass!!
As a result Force Awakens doesn’t hold up....

Hated hated to admit that, it gotta keep it real.
It’s the better film of the 3, lots of stuff to like, but ultimately, a failure. 😤

My cinema viewing experience for FA was amazing. You could feel the excitement in the crowd, for a big SW movie.
