Under Billy Davies and Steve McClaren no.
Under George Burley yes.
I think we still have room to improve and a couple of players in the right areas could prove to be the catalyst. Problem is it is common knowledge we have money and aren't afraid to spend it. Anyone that comes in will be for an inflated fee which if it doesn't work out, makes the transfer look a whole lot worse.
Last season Bournemouth got in Kenwynne Jones to help their promotion push. He was a completely different style of forward for them i.e. a donkey, but he served a purpose as a bit-part player who could play a few minutes and save the legs of others. Leicester got in Kevin Phillips in their promotion year. Both of these were just to bulk up the squad a bit rather than genuine first-team players. We got in John Macken once who I remember spearheaded our promotion charge under Artoo together with the other inspirational signings that January.
We have been weak in terms of numbers in the striking department all season and like last year we are vulnerable to injury or suspension. We need cover at least and if there is a chance to improve we should do it. We could stick with Martin and Bent of course, as we did last season. How did that work out for us?
.................as others have said, would Bamford work?
IJDK as well, View.
Wholesale changes certainly wouldn't fit in with the Morris Plan, which says that we don't need to be promoted this season and any improvement should be gradual & sustainable.
A knee jerk approach may upset any team spirit we have built up and many people suspect that this, as well as the injuries was responsible for the rapid decline last season.
I just can't see Bamford coming back here
Camara has signed now, 3.5 year deal. Mo has 7 more relatives to bring in. We will soon be the Camara club.
Don't look back in Angers, I hear you say.
been saving that one Spart?
Both you and Sally can wait.

Well, I've not seen him play, but his beard's not as luxuriant as Johnny's, even if his English is on a par...
Well plenty call Martin lazy so Bamford is a great like for like..apparently.
With us being 2nd in the table...Is there a lot wrong to change shape of team? If your not changing shape then the answer is simple to improve the team....bring in better than what we have. It wont be cheap
Anyone else listening to RD 'phone in?
Nothing too controversial yet, just the usual re: Martin
Quite level-headed comments at the mo.....
Do you think a lot of the more....er....critical ones went regularly or commented regularly two years ago ?
Afraid I can't see Bamford coming back either, sadly. He left in a rather unsavoury manner.
Also, my lad shared a taxi back home recently with Bryson, he'd been speaking to him and Forsyth who were out on a Xmas bender!
Bryson said Bamford was a complete nob and very unpopular in the dressing room.
(He said the same about McClaren too...towards the end )
Listening to phone in too
