Love the advert in Indiana

Still though, this is all just "people telling us what we want to hear".... We're clearly doomed.

Superb news, what will we be trading?

posted on 18/7/16

Air and spacecraft engines

Machines, pumps and other engineering.

Precious metals.

Mineral oils.

posted on 18/7/16

Superb, you mean we are not trading those already?

I could have sworn we were.

What mineral oils are you referring to?

Precious metals? Really? Like what?

MUDD, I heard that the streets of London are paved with gold...

Average £600 per square meter. Almost paved with gold.

posted on 18/7/16

Apologies it should be £600 per square foot.

Pre brexit under 35s earned less than their predecessors in the news today. There has been a growing gap between the rich and everyone else. Ye tthe young are supposed to be the ones who wanted to maintain the status quo and stay in the EU. And you lot claim leaving is shooting ourselves in the foot.

I like the first line saying "The United Kingdom is the 9th largest export economy in the world" bearing in mid the Bremainers in here arguing that we dont export much any more

posted on 18/7/16

We export mainly to the EU.

The most important trade deal we can make is a continuance of the free trade deal with the EU.

We mainly sell to the EU at the moment due to tariffs for us dealing with anyone else while we are still in it. Our hands are tied at the moment but once we are free of the restrictions in the EU we may well be better off selling to the ROW. They are lining uo to do trade with us which goes to show how restrixtive it is doing trade with us while we are in the EU.

It is very narrow minded and a fear of change to be so sure our best option is to keep things exactly the same. Sometimes you have ot take a risk to be able to grow at any level.

No that is not the case. We sell mainly to the EU because they are our closest market geographically, of the mass of people we need, who can afford to buy from us.

What would we be exporting to those countries?

Can you identify these things please?

China?

You are trolling now aren't you.

Considering our manufacturing industry is about 11% of our economy, pray tell, what are these exports?

a lot and if you think it hasnt you need to learn about how finances work. The EU proteccts the laws and regulations which allow the rich to become richer at everyone elses expense, such as tax avoidance, zero hours contracts, etc. I'm not an expert.

UI obviously have more belief in this country than you. Your comment that you hate this country and would happily leave says a lot. I for one would very much like you to move back to Scotland if you prefer it. Why would you stay there if you dont like it? If I dont like where I live, my life, etc I do something about it.

I really wonder what planet some of you are living on. You are grossly unaware of a lot of things.

We design ships here, send the money and designs to build them in South Korea and China because it is cheaper.

I ask again, what are the key products that we export to the rest of the world?

When Cameron was begging people from the MINT countries and Pakistan to come here, it was for them to spend their money on Oxford Street, etc.

You are so full of nonsense I am not sure where you get this guff from.

How does the EU affect what companies want to pay their workers. Is there some law that says you must pay people less?

What planet are you from? The people that make those decisions are the ones that got mugs like you to vote for Brexit, so they can circumvent these laws that protect mugs like you.

==================

First of all, I said, I hated London. Please use facts when debating with people. Putting words in my mouth is not productive.

I live in Essex, very nice place, I do not get as much for my money as I used to in Scotland but nice place nonetheless.

I hate London, that is why I do not live here, only work in it.

Rest assured, I am doing my best to ensure I have minimal engagement with it and I am happy to move back to Scotland where I can engage with people who are not xenophobic and are scared of Europe whilst ignoring the people taking them up the backside without lube.

I used to think the electorate was a lot smarter here than in the US but research has clearly demonstrated that the more right wing you are the less intelligent.

just about everything under the sun according to that site

we have quite a diverse set of things

£8.5 billion in hard alcohol
900mil in non-knit womens suits (wtf is that?)
10bil in aircraft parts
3bil in nitrogen heterocyclic compounds(god only knows)
2bil in beauty products
4 bil in computers (I had no idea)
3 bil in centrifuges
481mil in bog roll
25mil in neckties

100s of product categories and I left out the big ones

so the idea is to grow on these

you seem to love to say we don't make anything and we're doomed but there's millions of jobs in all these relatively minor categories

Do we think Scotland would vote for independence now?

Let us assume the worst in terms of trade...the UK trading with the EU will be much harder, overwhelmingly the main reason given by Bremainers.

Bear in mind the rest of the UK is Scotland's biggest export/import market. If they left and became part of the EU, then their trade with the UK would then be outside the free trade zone.

I think a big assumption is that people that voted remain in Scotland are also those that want independence. I imagine a sifnificant portion would be those that want to be part of the UK, and felt a Leave vote would lead to a second IndyRef.

Best case scenario is that we organise a good trade relationship with the EU, and Scotland get their vote without the inevitable scaremongering we got this time.

Although the currency they take on is the other major issue.....

you were on here saying the EU costs businesses money due to their regulations and directives.

Also zero hour contracts? let me know which EU directive/regulation implemented zero hour contracts.
*hint, you'd be better off looking at legislation from the house of commons on that one.

As for the list :
£8.5 billion in hard alcohol (is that not Scotlands key export?)
900mil in non-knit womens suits (wtf is that?)
10bil in aircraft parts
3bil in nitrogen heterocyclic compounds(god only knows)
2bil in beauty products
4 bil in computers (I had no idea)
3 bil in centrifuges
481mil in bog roll
25mil in neckties

Where do we export these to in the main? The EU
