Arguing w/strangers cause I'm lonely thread

I know. If I suggest that the number of muslims has increased by over a million in a decade due to immigration that must be because I'm anti immigration right. It's not just obvious that people who come from different countries have different cultures and some of them are corrupt

Pretty sure I'm not the one who's being xenophobic against "foreigners" by denying that they have different cultural influences, and the fact is that a lot of those cultures are indeed one in which corruption is integral.

Embarrassing to be someone like tamwolf that spends his days upset and can't look at these things without all the emotional rhetoric.

Denmark has very similar immigration figures as the UK.

And many countries high up on the corruption index, have incredibly high immigration rates, like Singapore, Sweden and Switzerland.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Just because it's high up doesn't mean the level of corruption has increased though does it? There are downward trends in countries higher up the index too.

Perhaps countries that are succeeding are able to recognise that elements of other cultures aren't always positive and address it.

Your arguement is much less to do with facts and evidence, than it is to do with just vibes.

You would need to look at a lot of data points, to even extrapolate that corruption correlates with immigration, let alone even make a point that it causes corruption.

Sweep sweep...

Xenophobe Clappy strikes again, blaming Johnny Foreigner for the increase in corruption because of his warped bigotry and not, for example, white native Scott Benton MP taking backhanders from bookies, white native Matty Hancock MP, scratching the back of his pub landlord for £multi-millions contract for PPE like white native Michelle Mone, white native Robert Jenrick receiving a brown envelope for "party donation" to wave through a planning exception opposed by the local authority...etc etc etc

But but but immigrants...

----------------------------------------------------------------------
Immigration or the handing of immigration? There's a difference between the two things. One is merely a tool that can be used to improve a Country, the other dictates whether that will happen or not.

You make my point for me. Immigration handling in this Country has clearly been a total failure given that the response to what I'm saying is not data driven. While I'm aware that the burden of proof is on me on this thread to show that there's a correlation, the burden of proof has clearly been on successive governments to show that there is no correlation, which they've failed to do.

posted on 30/1/24

If people believe corruption is rife in the Government why is it that they then can't conceive their handling of immigration is also corrupt and that people are being let into the Country on the basis that they serve the nefarious objective of a corrupt Government?

Strawman argument.

"The UK was ranked at between the eighth and 11th most transparent country in the world between 2012 and 2021. However, it fell to 18th in 2022, and then joint-20th in 2023."

A huge drop in transparency that coincides with the hijacking of the conservative party leadership by the proven liar and the inept, self-interested pygmy.

Don't worry, I'm not upset. Must be projection on your behalf. Pretty common for those with a low IQ to do that with their emotions.

Governments have been comprised of boomers, moving onto gen x now, of a certain social class that is property owning.

It obviously serves them well to let as many people into the Country as possible given that it functions as a transfer mechanism of wealth to property owners via the massive increase in demand as a result of this, and the constrained supply.

To achieve this both immigration and financial regulation laws must be lax to the point where you're letting in higher levels of corruption supported by imported labour. For example russian ogliarchs who launder money through london property supported by international criminal gangs.

It's no surprise that Brown's 'light touch' financial regulation coincided with high levels of immigration, and people from that Government are rather wealthy people.

No, the burden of proof is still on you lol. Glancing at the list, theres a lot of contridctory evidence to your arguement. Your further arguement that these countries manage immigration better, is another bold claim tbh. Denmark, Sweden, Netherlands have significant issues with such issues. So at best, I would say this is unsubstantiated.

I mean, I could look at the list and correlate its findings to press freedom, or some other metric. But I know that corruption is such a complicated issue, which can not be predicted with a single variable.

it's really not though is it. We've exited the EU, devalued the currency, the Country is in a mess, and you still think that the Government hasn't trojan horsed immigration as a way of serving their nefarious needs. At which point do people pull their head of their sand on this.

The anti-corruption charity said the scandal around the awarding of PPE contracts during the pandemic and concern that “both the UK government’s anti-corruption champion and independent advisor on ministerial interests [had] resigned”.
It added: “The data shows that while perceptions of bribery generally are improving, there are growing concerns over cronyism and patronage in politics, and its effect on the management of public funds.”

Remember guys. Those who are right wing are more likely to have a larger amygdala than those with more liberal views. The amygdala is known to control fear, which is the reason why conservatives tend to be more scared.

Real Fans Don't WUM is just really scared right now. Immigrants are different to them. We should be doing our best to comfort RFDW and let them know why it isn't a threat.

Well there you go. It seemed obvious that in the last 5 years theres been an ample of evidence of curruption which has nothing to do with immigration.
