39 police officers injured and 27 hospitalised last night in Southport.
I say again, can anyone imagine the absolute meltdown in the media today if anything *remotely* close to that - I mean even 10% of that - had happened at any single one of the literally scores of marches for peace in Gaza?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I wonder why the police went into Southport and not Leeds? The police moderate their language and actions when dealing with protests involving minorities as they're terrified of being branded racists, they don't give a feck when they're white.
Why is it when white people protest and riot they're far right and yet if Muslims and minorities do it extremism is never brought up?

Police did attend the Leeds riots and were one part of the reason it started but were outnumbered and retreated. They didn't have the resources to handle something that started suddenly.
The reason there was a heavier police presence in Southport is that there had been a huge incidence the day before, misinformation had led to threats, there was a vigil and likely worries from a big crowd descending on an area, copy cat attacks or those looking for revenge and the EDL lot had turned up who have a reputation for rioting.
It really isn't that complicated unless you are trying to search for some conspiracy to help with your own prejudices.

My point was white people protesting are often called EDL or far right and yet when minorities or Muslims protest like after the airport incident they're just protesters, they're not labelled as extremists.
Just seen that one of the people who called for the far right rally last night is a white nationalist from Cardiff who was once imprisoned for stabbing two young Man United fans.
Clap will get upset that it's classed a far right though.

"Nadsy Qurban bent his neck to show how the crown of his head was covered in a number of burns, each the size of coins. “The smell was like I’m burning some goat or something, like I’m cooking some goat. That’s how bad it was,” he said.
Needless to say, it hurt. But a week on, the burns he gained while putting out fires during unrest in the Harehills area of Leeds are starting to heal.
He was one of more than a dozen people, mostly Muslim men, who stepped in to de-escalate tensions on 18 July, when disorder was triggered by police and social services taking children from a Roma family into care"

That you haven't got a clue what you're talking.about for a change.
The situation in Leeds was to do with a Roma family.and social services. How is that comparable to the incident in Southport?
Why bring Muslims into the conversation in that last paragraph?

"So they pulled back to ease tension in Leeds yet piled in when confronted by protesters in Southport?"
Footage I've seen on the news shows the police standing with riot shields defending themselves not piling in
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Why didn't they pull back to ease tensions?
Isn't Merseyside your neck of the woods? I didn't know it was a hotbed for racism, isn't this the 2nd time there's been some form of race riot.

----------------------------------------------------------------------
Police did attend the Leeds riots and were one part of the reason it started but were outnumbered and retreated.

Oh fackin dear
Who choose the name English Defence League, I'll give you a clue, it wasn't the press, politicians or the general public applying a nickname. Also those attending are there because that's the cause they have chosen to back. The EDL being far right doesn't deter them.
The Manchester Airport incident had nothing to do with extremism and the incident had nothing to do with protest you idiot

I don't think you can be further right than a white nationalist, but you're correct that they won't understand that.
