Fair play to Andy Burnham.

Shame the gutless Labour mp's didn’t have the minerals to go against their hopeless leader.

I see Truss is sending a stiff letter claiming she didn't crash the economy, how long before Reeve will be doing the same!!?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
We'll probably have to wait until she's been PM for a month.

America have never really been a colonial power. You can tell Cinci’s been living there too long.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Shall we compare real colonial powers like the UK, France and Spain to the US? Nah, thought not.

Hawaii, Philippines, Panama(which while taking control of the canal they set up independence for Panama from Colombia), Cuba for like three yearsand some tiny little specks in the ocean.

Some say Liberia, but Independence was recognised way back in the 1850s or something while Europe was running rampant for another 100 years on the continent. Liberia was primarily set up for freed African americans incidentally.

If the US were a colonial power they were feckin awful at it
----------------------------------------------------------------------
The fvkin land you live on was colonised. The whole of America was.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Of course, Canada wasn't right?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
When and where did I say that.
Keep clutching.

Look at the land mass of the US when it declared independence and look at it now. If that’s not colonialism I don’t know what is.

Gotcha 'journalists', Tories and railway bosses are popping champagne corks, no more will they be verbally slaughtered and ritually humiliated.
Enjoy your retirement big fella, you did your members proud.

Closed down my Facebook account earlier today. Haven't really used it for years but left it on there. Zuckerberg isn't having me in his statistics for users though after his recent announcements.

I barely use Facebook anymore as my feed is full of right wing/libertarian/conspiracy trash.

It's so utterly stupid and cringe-inducing that I find it hard not to respond, but of course, the more I interact, the more of it I get.

I'm reluctant to delete my account though if only because I log in to a lot of other things via Facebook

Not got any of the usual social media accounts other than this little BBS webpage overran by sock accounts.

Oh and LinkedIn, because apparently it's for 'professionals', but all I get are inane posts telling me that if I buy a Starbucks everyday for the next 10 years, I would have spent £1million 🙄

I only had Facebook and LinkedIn. I don't use LinkedIn, just have it for networking if I ever want to move jobs. Whenever I've logged in to it though, it's full of rubbish that I genuinely can't believe people spout thinking it's impressive.

2024 confirmed as the first year beating 1.5 degrees C globally. The last ten years have been the hottest ten years on record.

The most up-to-date models (built on predictions which have already proven to be pretty facking accurate to date) puts us on track for 2.7 degrees C by 2100 *if all existing pledges are met in full*. 2.7 degrees, as a reminder, would be nothing short of catastrophic for the global ecosystem, biodiversity and mankind.

Meanwhile, those existing pledges… are not close to being met. Last year also saw record worldwide CO2 equivalent emissions, again.

it's still too cold, -4 almost. give us more global warming, we need 5 degrees + warmer. more fossil fuel burning pls

Don’t worry though, fellas. I’m sure we’ll have a couple of posters along presently, ready to make claims about sunspots, a global conspiracy involving hundreds of thousands of climate scientists, and/or conceptual carbon capture or similar technology which does not only not exist, but research of which isn’t even being funded.

It’s okay… world leaders will soon hold another conference, agree even better targets and then we can all celebrate their amazing work.
