I’ve just seen the Bannon footage. How is this happening?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I don’t know why anyone is surprised. MAGA as a movement was built on fascistic principles.
Roger Griffin explains that fascism has three core components:
- the rebirth myth (literally “MAGA” )
- populist ultra-nationalism (populist policymaking, xenophobic extreme American exceptionalism)
- the myth of decadence (“draining the swamp”, “leftist elites”, Pizzagate, demonisation of the woke in opposition to “traditional Christian values” )
It’s a fascistic movement, and as such, we shouldn’t be surprised to see it exhibit fascistic behaviour now that it has control of all of the arms of government and the highest courts.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I am surprised that there is not absolute uproar at senior figures openly making Naži salutes tbh, because I’ve been brought up on the notion that Naži’s are really fvcking bad people.
I mean it’s illegal to make that salute in Germany. I just find it insane that people are just letting it happen.
I also found Trumps acceptance speech where he said he felt he was send by God to ‘Make America Great Again’… I mean, really? A sky fairy made you president did he?
It’s just all weird, why aren’t average Americans calling this sh!t out?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
They are the average Americans. It’s a two tier country. The smarter folk in the cities and the dumber folk in the red states. It’s very easy to blame the smart folk when your businesses and farms etc are failing and Trump (or his team like Bannon) capitalised on that exceptionally.
I just think so many of those red states look to the UK with envy and wanted their own royal family (the Kennedys were that for a time) and now want to have a king in Trump and eventually Barron to take over.

Sinn Féin will boycott St Patrick's Day events at the White House next month over US President Donald Trump's stance on the Israel-Gaza conflict.
The party's first minister at Stormont, Michelle O'Neill, will not travel to Washington DC for the annual event.

As far as I can make out, there’s a strong proportion which is actively calling it out.
Then I guess there are a good number of people who are vested financially to such an extent that they’re happy to overlook the nationalist and authoritarian pillars of the movement, and a number of people who are politically disengaged/disenfranchised to an extent that they’ve become entirely politically apathetic.
And then, of course, there are those who have fallen prey to a very, very well-funded and powerful propaganda machine so successful that it has people believing that there’s no such thing as objective truth, only opinion; in the Great Replacement Theory; that Hillary Clinton literally drinks children’s blood; that the Democratic Party is run by communists and that the MAGA movement is the only way to defend the nation against the red peril, etc.
Well they’re not doing enough.
It’s becoming increasingly hard not to think the US is just simply an absolutely vile country tbh.
Naži’s are bad. How hard is that to understand?
We’ve got posters on here supporting Trump FFS. How? How is that happening? It’s quite odd to see this all now openly unfolding in front of us and no-one is doing anything about it,

Those poorer people have a huge vacuum of hope that needed to be filled and Trump and his folk took advantage. There’s no coincidence that in most countries post Covid the incumbent parties all lost. People are desperate for a change and the snake oil salesmen are just better at messaging as they don’t really need to prove their credentials.

Humanity is built on imperialism, ethnic cleansing and pilgrimage.
I've been watching Black Mirror again recently in preparation for S7 and this series continues to age gloriously...
'Men Against Fire' is a beautiful episode which touches on ethnic cleansing, where they dehumanise the 'enemy' and see them as nothing more than creatures.
The soldiers see the 'Roaches' as monsters and the villagers believe the propaganda machine and see these people as savages...
So while people are fighting each other, the Elites are protected.
It's shocking to see but I do think they're going to eat themselves eventually as they're going too hard too soon.
There's already tons of stories online of Trump voters regretting their vote or outraged at things like the social security cuts or federal workers being fired. His approval rating is already on the decline since his inauguration.
Irony of course is he's doing literally everything he said he would, and yet these voters didn't believe him. He's a straight shooter who tells it like it is until he says something they disagree with, then it's "well what he actually means..."
https://www.johndclare.net/images/Roadto7.jpg
I see their relationship as being quite like Hitler and Stalin after the non aggression pact.
It's not a perfect analogy but ones going to betray the other eventually
Wall Street Journal exclusive: X threatens advertisers - increase your spend or Trump will punish you.

Still haven't heard the plan of how Robb and his band of merry men and women would change it by continuing to use it. Meanwhile the chief misinformation guys are the owner, his minions, and his bots.
Enjoying the story about Musk posting a photo of Birmingham hospital but it turns out it’s actually a scene from Batman.

Not any more stupid than saying those who use Twitter are ushering in fascism.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Twitter is literally owned by one of its biggest supporters. The algorithms are being changed to support their misinformation. You are monetising the website everytime you share a link.
This is indirectly supporting one of their key mechanisms. Thinking you are somehow going to change it from the inside is like a woman who has been beaten multiple times by her partner thinking she can change him.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Where does that kind of thinking end? Do you recycle every single item of plastic you use? If not you’re helping to kill sea turtles in the ocean. Do you use a smartphone? The lithium in the battery was mined by a child slave. Are all the clothes you wear ethically made? Etc etc
Nothing in life is perfect and occasionally we have to be ‘hypocrites’. Twitter was something myself and Arab and many other decent people used for many many years. We don’t have to leave it just because it was bought by someone who’s running it at a loss now.
Apologies if you’re so perfect you don’t ever do something that someone could point out your hypocrisy on. Twitter is the best news source on the planet if you control its algorithm which believe it or not, you still can.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
You can control Twitter's algorithm? You? Really?

I see their relationship as being quite like Hitler and Stalin after the non aggression pact.
It's not a perfect analogy but ones going to betray the other eventually

Wall Street Journal exclusive: X threatens advertisers - increase your spend or Trump will punish you.
‘A lawyer at advertising conglomerate Interpublic Group fielded a phone call in December from a lawyer at X. The message was clear, according to several people with knowledge of the conversation: Get your clients to spend more on Elon Musk’s social-media platform, or else.
X CEO Linda Yaccarino has made comments that seemed like similar warnings in conversations with Interpublic executives, according to people with knowledge of those talks. Interpublic leaders interpreted the communications from X as reminders that the recently announced $13 billion deal to merge Interpublic with rival Omnicom Group could be torpedoed, or at least slowed down, by the Trump administration, given Musk’s powerful role in the federal government, some of the people said.’

Another reason not to use Twitter. How can someone think they can change this by using it?

I'm sure I read last week they're looking at upping the premium membership from $8 a month to $40 a month as well.

You can control Twitter's algorithm? You? Really?
