The whole international student cashcow is a bit funky. When I was at Uni we had some fantastic international students but they were being fleeced, assume the prices are significantly higher now.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Why do you think International students were being fleeced? International students aren't treated differently to home students apart from fees. But surely they won't be paying if they felt they were increasing their earning potential.

In Australia there's been a decent amount of scandals where people who could barely speak the language were getting degrees as they'd paid all that money and the University's rely so heavily on attracting more.
------------------------------
When I was at uni the International students didn't get to sit in different exams in England. Has that changed?

The university/higher education sector is a bit of a mess in general it seems, too much of a business, and from what a lot of graduates seem to be saying provides a lot less value than before although without a degree it's probably even worse.
------------------------------
Demand and Supply. If there is less value in holding a degree why is the demand for top universities places higher than ever?

*weren't increasing their potential.

Harvard is suing the Trump administration after it revoked the university's ability to enrol international students, escalating a dispute between the White House and one of America's most prestigious institutions.

Saw a video the other day where Sec. of Education wrote a letter to Harvard and some English teacher corrected all the spelling grammar and punctuation.
There was more red ink on the letter than text.

Trump desperately wants everyone to be as stupid as he is. He probably got rejected from Harvard despite a promise of a large 'donation' from his father.

He is not battling Harvard but all Harvard alumni. Way to unite all the rich class against him.

Remember when people thought that the AI advancements which would lead to our demise would see Skynet controlling giant, self-supporting armies of high tech metallic monsters?

About two months ago, I think, I posted on here about testimony from a former google AI engineer (and now AI control campaigner) who was writing that we were maybe only two years away from high definition AI video which no human would be able to tell from reality, and even more scarily, about five years away from AI video which *no AI or other computational tool* would be able to differentiate from reality?

Well, it would seem that his estimates were a little conservative. Gentlemen, I give you Google’s VO3:

We’re a few months away from cheap, easily accessible - basically ubiquitous - technology which will be able to create more than realistic video and audio content of anyone at all doing or saying anything at all.

Which, without wanting to sound like a drama queen, is quite possibly the end of civilisation as we know it.

United fans could really benefit from some fake games, reality is grim

Nome the head of Homeland Security was asked what habeas Corpus meant.
No big deal for anyone with high double digit IQ. Much less a former governor.
She answered it was the part of the Constitution that allows the president to deport people.
I find it difficult to believe they're all this stupid. It must be an act for at least some.

American couple come to London to see the Eiffel tower... Someone tells her it's in France

The couple say can we drive there?

They are told yes you could if you wanted to but it's a bit of a way

American couple say oh never mind. We've seen the original in las Vegas anyway

I have had a similar experience. Met some Americans in a small town in Spain and they said they had flown to Madrid and had travelled by car to the town. I remarked what did they think of the capital? Followed by some blank faces I told them Madrid is the capital of Spain.

Yeah but I doubt the MAGA lot care much for 'intellectuals'. However the rich class who can out media Musk would make a difference. MAGA are very gullible.

At some point people with malicious intent can frame people they don't like for a crime using videos using AI.

Report I saw said there were "watermarks" that other AI can see(?) but within 3 years even they won't be able to tell the difference.
Brave New World indeed.

Will it make that much of a difference considering the Jan 6th insurrection fell short of the 'clear and obvious' line.

'Nah, no definitive angle on that, boss.'
