I take back some of what I said the other day following the SKY article on the chauvin trial. The defence then recalled the same prosecution witness and he ended up stating (in paraphrasing) that it’s quite normal to keep holds on a suspect until EMS arrives, that he had done the same thing chauvin did and a few other bits.
I’m less sure again which way things will go 😂
I think either of the murder charges are unlikely, it’s going to be manslaughter or nothing imo currently.

The question is therefore would a perfectly healthy person, with no prior medical issues survive having someone (of similar build to Chauvin) place their knee on their neck for 8 odd minutes.

That’s what I thought yesterday and they are still going to rely on that but the calling of the same witness but for the defence and some of the things they got him to admit (there was another witness too) were a lot stronger than I would have expected and seeing as what is needed is a reasonable. We had a hung parliament with two parties having to work together in 2017 at least. Tories have scraped through for the last 11 years with slim majorities or coalitions and confidence and supply. Only since 2019 have they had a majority big enough to be confident that what ever they come up with will pass parliament. SNP have enjoyed this luxury for years and looks like it will continue.

Indeed, when asked if he himself had ever disbelieved a suspect’s claim of a medical emergency as an apparent effort to avoid arrest, Mercil answered that he personally had done so.
Nelson also once again put the use of pressure and body weight techniques in a favorable light. The state wants to present Chauvin’s knee in a negative light, as deadly mechanical asphyxiation, or as a “blood choke” as attested to by MMA Williams. In fact, however, the use of pressure and body weight to restrain a suspect was adopted by the MPD because it was a lesser intensity of force than the prior practice of using strikes—either barehanded, or with batons, or even with weighted gloves—to compel compliance. Mercil concurred.

People will have watched the video and simply concluded that it’s an open and shut case. They won’t listen when told it’s not that simple and they will set fires and start riots when it doesn’t go the way they expected it to (which is basically Chauvin getting the chair with a dry sponge Green Mile style).

Tories and Labour voters just need to rally behind one person. Personally the Scottish Labour leader seems a good guy and well spoken. Disgraceful the extent to which Scotland has become a one party state.
