The only way I could see Murty working out as manager would be if he got an Archie Knox/WS type as number two. Someone who kicks the players erses cos I don't see Murty as that type.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I agree with this I imagine the players like him but not so sure they see him as a leader of the team. Its more likely he is coaching them and Miller is the leader !
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I don't know about that I'm afraid. I think Murty would need a real seasoned hard nosed b@stard as back up. I don't see Miller being that guy.

I don't mean get Walter Smith back.
I mean, all the points made in the OP could have been labelled at Smith back when Souness moved on.
Luckily, the same closed minds weren't in operation back in the day.

The difference was Smith was always known as a hard b@stard who commanded respect from his players. As Bazza said in that interview, when WS walked in the room everyone stopped what they were doing and behaved themselves.
I really don't see Murty as that kind of guy. If he could get someone in like WS as number two I could probably live with that.

not really WS was always a gers die hard, and was feared big time by the players. Players feared WS more than they did Souness. Iv heard Souness and the players say this.

Yup, reality sucks.....Now Vinny Jones you say....
Thing is Murty is under zero pressure - as mentioned, he is an Under 20s coach who knows he will be replaced in the Head Coach role.
No need to worry about transfers either.
No experience of winning major trophies. Been in the game for like 5 years.
Those facts about Rangers don’t exactly make the club attractive for a decent manager like Murty. Maybe aim a little lower before trying to appoint a name that is bigger than the club. The club is hardly going to deal with the pressure of Murty’s expectations, he wants to win things. Rangers are not the right club for him.
